Mercedes C63 AMG...FUN Daily Driver

I recently had the opportunity to take a C63 AMG out for a spin to see what the hype was about and why it was always being compared to the M3 even though they are two completely different animals. This C63 happened to belong to a friend of mine who actually sold his E90 M3 for the C63. I thought he was nuts...but after driving the C63 it is much better suited as a daily driver than the M3 is. However, when pushed to the limit, it was quite difficult to find the happy medium between understeer and oversteer.

Shot a few video clips of the test drive just for fun...

These really are great daily drivers (minus the gas). I'm in love with my friends white C63 with the P31 performance package!

True gas mileage is an issue; however, I think if you try to take off from the line with an M3 as fast as the C63 everytime the 4.0 is just as thirsty. M3 would rev to 7k whereas the C63 would only need to rev to 4k.

I get 14.5 mixed driving in the E... The MPG is pretty bad city driving... I'm sure the C gets slightly better mileage due to the reduced weight... I dislike the tiny tach...

One of my favs,,,,

Before buying/settling on the "d" (my wife not me) I drove the C twice because it was the front runner out of the following line-up that I also test drove - e90 M3, CTS-V and IS-F. The exhaust note is truely intoxicating.

I actually just posted about this in another thread. Is it true that Modern Horsepower's Stage 2 kit (consisting of nothing other than exhaust, t-stat, and tune) will bring this n/a motor over 600hp and yield 1/4 mile runs in the Sub 10 second range @ around 130 mph?!

I want to believe it's true, it just seems like too much gain on an n/a motor with those mods. I had the exact same mods done on my 2009 C6 Z51 and only picked up 45whp/50wtq.

In M3, I get about 15mpg anyways...all about the same. It's the Hwy/long distance driving that there's a difference, in the M3, you can really stretch it out to around 25 mpgs.

Not sure about 10s but they do run consistent low 11s with just a tune, exhaust, downpipes.

Yup W212 E63... C63s aren't breaking into the high 10s without nitrous or FI, wish they were w/o though.

A new no-nitrous normally aspirated record was just reset a few weeks ago.

That's exactly what I was referring to. Obviously on slicks- the 60' was a blistering 1.5!

Regardless this may talk me out of the R35 GTR, and save me cash. I feel more comfortable buying a RWD, NA car used than a turbo awd.
