Work wheels barrel clearance

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster. Frode told me to create an account and post up on here.

I have a 2011 335i on air suspension. I was about to order my wheels from Work (Meister M1) but Work advised me that 18" VSXX and M1s will not fit my car because of the brakes, yet everyone I see on social media runs 18s with the air suspension. One thing they also told me is that there must be atleast a 5mm clearance for them to say it will fit, if the clearance is 5mm or less, they say they won't fit. The issue is the barrel of the wheel and caliper, not face and caliper apparently, so I can run O-Disk.

Can anyone chime in regarding this? I'm about to buy wheels and was dreaming of 18s in M1s, but don't want to order them if they won't fit.

Thanks all

How will that figure help you determine barrel clearance?

OP: Don't believe I've heard of an 18" not fitting due to barrel clearance...17's, yeah, that's definitely something to check. 18s though? I don't believe so...should be MORE than enough room there.

I was mistaken, I just assumed he was talking about the face since I've never heard of 18s not clearing the calipers. OP, you'll be fine with 18s.

Unless you have a big brake kit, there's no worries that the barrel of those rims wont fit over the brakes. These cars(335i) can fit 17's with stock brakes, so shouldn't be an issue trying to fit an 18 with stock brakes.
