HELP. Need to change spindle. Do they vary from 06-13 on E9x?!
I’ve tried searching but couldn’t find any GOOD info. Long story short I need to change the rear driver side spindle on my e90 lci.
The little research I’ve came up with is that spindles are all the same and interchangeable from 06-13 except for the convertibles? (I have an opportunity to get one off a convertible but can’t confirm if it’ll fit) BUT, lci models have a different hub. So if get a used spindle from a 2006, I have to buy an lci hub to fit to it? I think? And do AWD models have the same hub and spindle as a regular RWD?(I have an opportunity to get one off of one but can’t conform or it’ll fit) If anyone has any info on what works and what doesn’t please help me and trash out. Thank you. |

https://www.dictionary.com/browse/spindle#
https://www.dictionary.com/browse/knuckle?s=t I don't know why people make up definitions of parts of cars which are clearly misleading. Presumably the OP is referring to the wheel carrier. http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E9...?s=33326774807 In which case they are different between pre LCi and post LCi cars. Pre LCi LH33326774807 RH33326774808 LCi LH 33326783667 RH 33326783668 As are the drive flange hubs Pre LCi 33416760058 Post LCi 33416783671 Last edited by stevesingo; 11-13-2019 at 01:49 AM.. |

You never referred to front or rear.
Front, in which case knuckle is often used, spindle is the axle on which the bearing traditionally sits. But, BMW refer to it as carrier (as in hub carrier), http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E9...wheel_bearing/ If you want help on a BMW forum, it might be better to use BMW terminology or even specify front or rear. I'm guessing that being so clever, you have worked it out by now. |

What’s funny about you is that you knew exactly what I was talking about when I said spindle. You just wanted to be weird and act superior or troll me Lol. Or honestly idk what you were doing. But yeah, thanks for making it weird. |

Spindles in all 3 series except M are the same E92/3 have different hub for different rear wheel track width.
LCI has different hub from pre-LCI in terms of drive shaft splines going in. AWD and RWD are the same in rear from sub frame to the hub. I imagine 92/3 hub will fit 90/1 but you'll have the wheel well too narrow for wider wheels. You will need wheels with more offset in the back. Front obviously is different all around between RWD and AWD. |

IIRC the E92/E93 and Pre-LCI E90/E91 are the same, LCI E90/E91 will fit but act like an 8mm spacer per side and the M3 are different as well

www.car-part.com have them spindles for sale from plenty of wrecked LCI sedans.
Search engine sucks but you can contact and ask the ppl listing there. Search engine only shows the front knuckle? I can't get it to work right. I just bought two spindles off eBay from same sedan. LCI from the VIN they listed. They will replace the salt rusted rears I have, after replacing the bushings. |
