Powdercoat or new wheels

I’m currently debating whether to powder coat my 193s Gunmetal or buying new AG M359s. I’d like to get some comments from anyone that has powdercoated their wheels and how long since and how happy you are with the results.

My wheels are 56k miles old have have some rash and small chips from normal driving. Do the shop normally put on clear coat after they powder coat them? I got quoted $500 to fix and powder coat all four wheels. How long should I expect them to last driving around the city before the coat starts chipping?

For the AG M359, online they came out to $1950 for new 18” 8.5x9.5 with Michelin A/S 3+ with all accessories, ready to bolt on the car, which seems like a decent deal to me.

Powder coating is super durable. It'll last years and years.

Search around for a different powder coater. I had the old set of wheels for my wife's car done in dark silver with a clear powder layer for $300.

would plastidip.

easier to touch up after you curb it.
powder is great, and applies properly will last a long time, until you damage it.

I'm in the garage today swapping the wheels on the wife's TDI. Can you tell which is OEM paint and which is newer powder coat?

193s are a great looking wheel. Maybe you've already looked, but there are photos online of them in Gunmetal/Feric grey.

A good powder coat is, just like traditional paint, all about the details and prep. Make sure the shops you're getting quotes from are known to do good work and will put in the effort to prep them correctly...in which case it should last for a long time.
