Stock ugly rims - How can I change
Hi all,
New to the forum. I am seeking advice regarding my current stock bmw rims (photo attached). They are the ugliest rims that any company could design. I am not sure why they are even made in the first place but I'd like to have them replaced. The problem is, they have pressure sensor. I don't know where that is or how it works but apparently it works. - How can I look for a second hand rim that also has the pressure sensor and will work with my car? - Can I use wheel caps on these? Would they even fit? My car is a 2010 318d and currently I have 225/55 r16 I believe. |

That said - the TPMS sensor is attached to the back of the valve stem and can be moved from one wheel to another without issue. Feel free to pick up some less hideous rims. Cheers. Link below to further details and a photo of where the pressure sensor is located in the wheel: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=473079 https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=666183

Those are hideous mate!
Look for some OEM wheels for sale in your area that include the TPMS (tire pressure monitor sensors). There are two different versions of TPMS sensors, for your 2010 you need the LCI sensors (2010 & later). If your car needs new tires than it might be worth it to just take the sensors off your existing wheels and purchase new wheels & tires. I doubt you would be able to sell those wheels for much, they are quite ugly lol. A set of sensors cost over 100 EUR so there's some value there.

The wheel in question is BMW Style 46.

I am looking at a set of e90 tyres (17 inches). I currently have 16 inches. Do you suggest sticking to 16 or would 17 be better? Also should I ask about the sensors on the 17 inch tyres? Or can I simply transfer the ones from these ugly ones?

TPMS sensors are transferable from one wheel to another, but they are typically recommended to be replaced every 5-7 years, so you may want to take that into consideration. Not a mandatory thing, but worth noting. Here are a couple of links about the TPMS systems. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=473079 https://blog.tirerack.com/blog/selec...-market-wheels https://blog.tirerack.com/blog/docs-...essure-sensors
