Rarity of the 335d M-Sport
To my knowledge, the M-Sport package was introduced only to the 2011 Models. Since the 335d is already rare by being released after LCI introduction, 2009-2011, wouldn't the M-Sport be a tougher find at only being available for 1 year?

Yes, the North American 335d M-Sport was only available for the 2011 Model year, which was the last model year the 335d was produced by BMW. The 2011 Model year began production early in 2010. (Mine was a March 2010 build)
I have only seen 1 M-Sport in my travels out of the about a half dozen 335d's I've seen. The M-Sports are out there though hard to find. I have one also. |

There were few brought into North America. But they are not very difficult to find. Not so many were actually sold, as the pricing point was never attractive. Most of them became dealership loaners. And if you really want one you can get a low mileage for about $40k. Dealers are getting rid of them as the main purpose was to advertise the diesel version of the car, purpose no longer in need as the line up does not carry 6 cyl diesels anymore.
As of today there are 139 2011 335d for sale in US/Canada and about 25% has the M sport package. |

...so roughly 37 available in two countries? That's rare enough for me . I have one too. If you are particular about color, etc, then they can be a real pain to find. I had a heck of a time trying to find an AW with black interior, nav, and msport.

Available for SALE. Certainly not plenty but If you want one today you can get it. It is a matter of choice among these.

Very true. Even still, if we assume that there were about 3600 335ds sold in the US in 2011 (I don't know the actual number) and that your assessment that 25% of those currently available for sale can be carried through to the total, we could estimate that roughly 900 were sold(?). That sounds like a pretty low number. If correct, you are more likely to see a this-century MY lambo on a trip through the US than a 335d m-sport

The M was only a cosmetic option. A very nice one but it was quite pricey over the sport package which apparently had the same suspension and seats. The steering wheel was nicer, though but was not available in heated option.

If it makes you feel any better, my old street had 12 houses. I bought a brilliant black Mazda rx8 in 2003 (2004 MY, which was the first year). I custom ordered matte black Enkei RPF1s with perfectly measured offsets & widths to fit 275s all the way around with no rubbing, tinted windows, changed out the b-pillar appliqué, added chrome fender strakes & fuel filler door, blacked out the turn signals leaving a small sliver exposed (looked mean), installed double-din touchscreen head unit, etc, etc. A few months later my neighbor buys a BB RX8, I'm thinking "that's cool; our street looks like a before and after shot", then he started to attempt to duplicate every mod I had performed. Stuff like that happens. At least you know your ride is good enough that people want to copy it! |

I think the even more rare are the LeMans blue 335d Msports.
Only one my dealer sold when I was working there. Its going to be hard to let mine go.
