I never thought I'd be so excited by a few lines of text. The only real thing keeping me from a supercharger is the problem with throttle tuning on the n52. I wouldnt sacrifice heel toe for any amount of hp

YES
Please let me know what you end up using!

Was thinking that too, likely need an upgrade there. Run a clutchmaster/AMD stage 2 on Audi but don't know the bmw options, thoughts guys?

Tbh, if you figure out a clutch worth going with — keep us in the loop. I'm in a weird spot with my 330i. I think they had a little overlap in transmission usage from e46 3ers into the e90. Long story short- bought a Sachs metallic clutch — splines dont mate at all. Ordered a junkyard tranny to find it was the exact same transmission that doesn't match to places like ECS' part compatibility checker. So I'm kinda F'd with experimenting with a more rugged e46 clutch kit.

Do we know what the actual maximum horsepower/ torque the gearbox can take. There’s an older BPC post on their turbo e92 that said after 500 whp, the trans let go. But then there has been other posts of people saying 350/400 is pushing it.
I’m 99 percent sure that we share the same clutch/ pressure plate as the N20s. And there are plenty of guys running 350-400 whp with no issues.

It’s tough spending 1200$ for a clutch and flywheel, when the transmission might not out last the clutch.

When I searched the manufacturer of the 328i manual transmission rates it at ~270ft/lbs Max Input Torque

Does it take much work to mate the n54 tranny? I don't recall if you need an adapter plate etc.

Yeah, I may be pushing it then, currently 237 I think and with new pulley, tune and water-meth we will see. Worst case I saw at ECS (not my favorite place) plenty of upgraded clutch options based on their fit chart. Run a clutchmaster stage 2 in other car and like it, but likely more than I need here. Thanks for input! Should have car back next week

I believe you can use the stronger 330i clutch or just go full blown aftermarket.

Shop getting close, today they installed a new custom wrap around tensioner, for increased friction w higher boost and they feel it will slip without it... shop is writing a blog later about build so it will be well documented it sounds like!

Still on the fence if we keep the clutch, and will see once the numbers come in on power/torque. Been very impressed dealing with shop so far!

Yeah, they seem very strong technically and do lots of customizations and mine seem very straight forward to them. All they do is BMW, which I also like.
