BMW will never come out with a software update to quiet the cold start down. Like mentioned its like this to warm the cats up. This is for emissions purposes. They are basically messing with timing and cam positions to do this until it is warm.

Not a bad idea though.
Excellent insight. I didn't know that was the case at all. If possible on the n55, disabling that feature for us catless folks would be amazing. I'll ask Terry.

Welp, Terry said that disable the "cat warm up" program on cold startup is unfortunately not possible at this time, and neither is controlling the idle. Looks like we'll have to live with it, sadly.

Yeah, not legit OEM alarms but crappy aftermarket setups with poorly tuned sensitivity. I set off one in my parking garage at home and one at work. PITA.
