Annoying bmw!
Evening all,
I have a problem with my e90, just today fitted a non bmw tow bar. Was a westfelia (might have spelt it wrong). Anyway I have wired it to the starter wire in the battery compartment, this is for a permanent live. Since doing so, I keep getting my dash reset the clock and say increased battery draw or drain. This did happen after removing the battery to do a spot of welding. Since then it's keeps saying the above! My question could the car be sensing the draw on that starter wire? If so is there anywhere else I could pick up a live at the battery compartment that might not upset my battery sensor? Stupid thing I only want to fit a tow bar, why do manufactures make everything a hassle! Also something separate to that, I have been looking through eBay, I found a seller selling a cast iron exhaust manifold for the 330d. He states that bmw used an alloy one to save weight. Can someone confirm this as mine is blowing after a few runs up Santa pod! Car is under AUC warranty but its had the dpf and e u tweaked since. However the manifold was blowing before the remap and dpf delete. Hope someone can answer my questions. Thanks Dan |

Take the towbar feed directly off the battery.if its fairly new the intelligent battery sensor will be picking up a draw on the starter line and fixing you a warning.
As for exhaust the manifold will be replaced under AUC warranty. Kris |

Do you think they will say anything about dpf delete? Is it a big job do you know? Will swap it to main battery tomorrow thanks for your help

Hmmm that can cause issues with dpf delete-they most likely will void the warranty.if you still have dpf then stick it back on for the BMW visit.Yeah it's a big job to replace manifold, prob good 4-5 hour job.but getting it fitted back on by an independent will be far far cheaper than paying to replace you're manifold assembly!

I did the dpf delete myself, I work for mercedes so I can do it myself. So far the dealer I use is pretty crap. Thermostats I did them myself, as they could not fault them. A misfire but I think that was due to it being stood as its cleared now. Might try it with auc and see what happens worst case I take the car and fix it myself. If parts are cheap I might do it on my own back

I would but I cut my one open and did it that way. Might find one to use temporarily. I don't mind work, I enjoy my job so will do it either way. You win some you lose some, and I might have lost this one

Kris if you lived a little closer I would consider bringing it to your dealer so you could do it for me and close your eyes once the dpf is off

well kris i moved the wire to another 13mm nut which feeds the other board. that did appear to stop it but it did lose it once earlier and not done it since. How ever that tow bar kit i used, it wires into the k bus? for the PDC. Well its works perfect and also tells me on the i drive when a trailer light is not working. So all in all im really happy with my tow bar purchase.
