Yes, before 30 days or 3 months, I think. But after that you only get store credit. If you got your money back lifetime, how do you think they'd be able to sustain or afford the program? They're not doing anything magical or giving us stuff for free

Don't confuse their Return policy with their Lifetime warranty. Their return policy is just like the industry standard.

Yes that's what they do.
For example I buy a waterpump for like 300$ and shipping and tax is 30$ so total 330$ 2 years ago. I want to use my warranty today. I place a new order for the pump so another 330$. Then I return my old water pump once I replace it. Return shipping costs me 15$ I guess? Then they make sure it's the same and they will refund 300$ to my credit card. So a new waterpump only costed me 75$ instead of 300$. Actually I'm not sure if they refund taxes to... probably not. |

If they do actually refund money at times, then the question still remains what's the catch? How can they afford giving life-time replacement warranty on brakes, engine oil, spark plugs etc, items that are guaranteed to be replaced? Last edited by musa; 02-21-2019 at 08:54 PM.. |

As for the catch well... I did some more searching and see the CEO did a few IAmAs and he doesn't explain exactly how they make or not lose money but they say it's a better investement in that than using it in marketing for example. IMO what I think it is is clearly not everyone is going to return their items for lifetime warranty. Thinking about it it's the part that you just bought that needs to fail. So if you change waterpump at 60k miles you need to wait another 60k miles (when it usually fails) to claim it for free. Most peple won't keep they're car for another 60k miles/100k KM so in the end they'll never use the lifttime as the "catch" is it's only on the current owner of the car. Brakes last a long time as well. Oil I agree is probably their no 1 cost and if they see they loose to much mopey they might at some point prevent lifetime warranty on fluid who knows. But there is no catch, you just have to understanding that you pay shipping twice kind of in claiming your warranty which depending on the part can still be much cheaper. |
