Do I need to upgrade the TCU to MULF for bluetooth audio?
Hi there
I've had a quick look around. Sorry if I'm duplicating the same question elsewhere (which I guarantee I am). My E92 VIN has this listed S6FLA USB/Audio interface I have a TCU module installed in the rear (along with a DVB-T module). I don't have the [software update] menu option in the [settings] menu. I believe a dealer can update the software (at what cost?). My questions. What do I need to do to get updated Idrive software? If I get the update, will this solve BT audio (I have BT phone already)? If not, what do I need to do to solve the BT Audio connectivity? Thanks |

European radios can be different from US but I will give a guess. You may have a MULF mounted under your TCU in the trunk. Or your USB in the arm rest may hook directly to the back of your radio. A tune2air can get you bluetooth music with your usb/aux

As for playing bluetooth music, a combox can switch between phones on the i-drive screen which a tune2air can't. |

If you have an iDrive car, you can add bluetooth audio streaming with a combox.
If you don't have an iDrive car, you can only add bluetooth audio streaming with a tune2air or similar, or... another option is one of these doodads: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bluetooth-A...lOLJ:rk:2:pf:0 This works with a professional (but *not* idrive/cic) radio to add bluetooth streaming with full steering wheel controls and on-radio displays, and it plugs into the CD changer MOST optical connection, so you get very high quality audio streaming... better than is possible from the aux plug |
