Exclamation VRSF Outlets O-ring Help

Finally got my intercooler installed and everything went in okay, but after struggling to remove the clamp that connects the OEM turbo outlets down to the intercooler, apparently, I damaged the stock outlets bad enough to cause a serious boost leak. no worries what a good excuse to get a new set of VRSF outlets. Bigger airflow (even if gains are minimal)

I was looking for some install instructions and finally gave in to having a shop install the VRSF outlets..
The shop specializes in BMW's and Mercedes and I have taken my car to them before with ZERO issues and I am confident they are more then competent to work on my car
Its been over 4 days (since Friday, its Wednesday today) and the Thanksgiving is tomorrow so I don’t expect my car back until Monday (11 days total) They keep telling me the outlets won’t sit close enough to seal the connection with the OEM clamp. something todo with the O-ring design being different. I did reach out the VRSF and asked to confirm the outlets worked with OEM turbos, and they said there should be no issues. But also to warm up the o-rings in warm water for 5 mins to help seal the clamp... I passed the info to my mechanics and see if that helps.

Long story short

anyone have issues installing N54 VRSF outlets?

thanks!

Those o rings provided are a horrible fit. A part from being slightly larger they're too thick

When i complained they recommended the same thing but unless you have enough room to squeeze both parts together and press the clamp in you won't get those rings in.

My first move was to slightly trim the o ring and it worked but wasn't satisfied with this. So i reused my MMP outlet orings which although not perfect they were a better fit.

Mind you i had the downpipe disconnected and on ramps but i doubt anyone can install the provided o rings unless both DP's are out and you have an extra pair of hands to make the connection.

wow, I am really regretting going with VRSF for this one... All I wanted was a cheap and easy upgrade. The crappy gains are not worth all this headache.. If they can't be installed by Monday, I'm just going to cut my losses and reinstall the OEM one, call up VSF for a refund.

So I just came back from the shop, they have completely given up. I am now going to order an OEM pipe and get a refund on this VRSF waste of time... never again!

Dreading this install now. I have OEM outlets and those are relatively painless to install/uninstall/reinstall. I didn't realize the oring would be such a hassle on the VSRF!

honestly on stockers it's an amazing upgrade considering i was driving with MMP's that had two visible holes. Switch them out for VVT i heard they're are better quality and only $30-$40 more. Or go get two OEM o rings.

Why can't you reuse the oem orings?

Hey Guys,

The first batch of these shipped with o-rings that were a bit thicker. Fortunately we caught on early enough to modify our second batch and I'm happy to say this problem has been resolved.

OP: I'm incredibly sorry for the inconvenience, this was a slight oversight on our part but if you're in an absolute pinch you can locate these o-rings at any local hardware store. To be clear, an o-ring is nothing more than a maleable rubber gasket. The included gaskets were .1-.2mm too thick. We take full responsibility, we've been made aware of the situation and we've put action in place to prevent it from happening again in the future.

If anyone needs a set of revised/smaller of orings just shoot over an e-mail along with your order number and we'll expedite a replacement set for the inconvenience. Otherwise, you can purchase these o-rings at any local lowes or home depot and we'll reimburse you for your time and expense.

Good to hear. So if I were to order now, it will be taken care of?

I'm incredibly sorry for the inconvenience but the o-rings a .2mm too thick. If your installer simply heated up the o-ring prior to install these would have bolted right up.

If we were contacted via e-mail, Facebook or Instagram we would have immediately rectified the issue with your installer since this problem can be rectified by simply warming up the o-ring in warm water prior to install. Please note that all future VRSF outlets already have this revised outlet and that we'll be more than happy to assist anyone with an existing outlet who's struggling with the o-ring.

They "fitment problem" claimed here consists of nothing more than two o-rings that are slightly thicker than they were supposed to be. Warm water for 5-10 minutes is what any experienced installer has had luck with but we are more than happy to provide free replacement o-rings to anyone who's purchased a set in the past.

To be clear, all existing and future outlets have been corrected.

YEs the provided o-rings are oversized, I had emailed VRSF as soon as the shop voiced concern with them and I was told to (put them in warm water for 5mins) THIS DID NOTHING but aggravate my mechanic who warmed, lubed, sweet talked these o rings with nothing but curse words and high blood pressure to show for it... My car is still sitting on a lift with the cats lose. today marks 12 days since I have driven my car... I am upset that such a little piece of rubber would halt my life, but I understand it is part of the game. I am hoping and Praying VRSF overnights me a set of the new O-rings. since its technically an oversight on their part. I can post results as soon as I get them.

VRSF PM SENT

VRSF has reached out to me and has replied to every message sent

[QUOTE=Tiago@VRSF]Thank you very much for your patience. I'll have a couple new o-rings out as soon as they arrive later this week. Please keep in mind that you can still install the o-rings now, they just need to be soaked in warm water prior.

Just want to confirm you are sending revised o-rings since you have already stated

We stand behind our products. If we say we're going to deliver on a promise of replacing your o-rings, we'll do so.

We simply offered a suggestion to customers who may be looking for an immediate solution.
