Going limp...

...the car, I'm good. Torque Pro and Elm327 BT adapter shows no codes. When my charge pipe blew up early this summer, it showed all kinds of things, including shadow codes...maybe it's something Torque can't read?

It does it every time I accelerate a little harder than just normal cruising. It starts fine, runs fine, sounds fine...turning the car off and back on again clears the half engine light and it's back to normal until the next time I punch it.

Any thoughts?

What's a good code reader other than INPA, don't have a reliable laptop at the moment.

Car is a 2010(N54) E92, stock aside from a DCI, VRSF charge pipe and stock diverters vented to atmos. All vac lines have been replaced with silicone at the same time as CP.

About to head down to the garage and see if it's anything obvious.

Thought about it. Charging up a tablet to give it a go, but have read that it's ability is limited.

If there aren't any noticible musfire/s is either low boost, low fuel pressure or Vanos. Not sure why Torque/Elm isn't picking up any faults. I suggest next time you scan before you restart the engine.

I did try scanning with Torque before restarting.

Tonight I managed to cobble up my old laptop(dead keyboard) and used a wireless one. Checked codes with INPA and there were a few...but, this being my first time using it, I goofed. I saw a date at the top of the screen which read Jan of 2018, and thought that meant that's when they were set, but later I realized that's when I installed INPA... There were 3 codes, but I didn't pay close attention and cleared them thinking they were old. One was, I believe, 30ff.

Then, thinking how easy it's been to replicate the problem these past few days, I thought I'd take the car out and get it to go into limp mode again, but guess what...it wouldnt. I beat the crap out of it, and had no issues.

Torque shows rail pressure at idle to be about 700, roughly.

Problem came back a day or 2 later and has been consistent...replaced the boost solenoids...fixed.

Also, I was wrong, it was a 30FE over boost code that I had, not 30FF.

Went with the Pierburg option from FCP.
