Thanks. I've heard of the Hereford House too. Probably will go there. I've been to the Capital Grille, I think, it was 2 years ago.

^ dont go to jack stack.. 90% of the people I talked to in KC when I lived there including myself say Oklahoma Joe's is the best.. if you want real BBQ go there.. jack stack is good.. but doesnt touch Oklahoma Joes

OKJ is good too ... but I loved the Martin City Mayor sandwich at Jack Stack. I was through there a couple months ago and that's what I had.

We did BBQ for lunch. Wanted steak. Can't give much acolades to Hereford House. I ordered a 12 oz Rib Eye, they served me a Kansas City Strip. When I made mention of it they said the chef realized it was a weird cut, but that it was a rib eye. I took one bite and said doesn't taste like a rib eye to me. I ended up with a rib eye...

Last time I was here (2009) I did go to Plaza III; not the capital grille.

Thanks for all the help guys. If you are ever in the Culpeper/Charlottesville area in Virginia, I'll hook you up with a few good places...

Hereford House is really no better a steak than what you get at Applebees. I've yet to go to the Golden Ox, simply because when I decided to go they went bankrupt, now they are back.

I've had Ruth's Chris and Capitol Grill, both excellent. If you want something that is local and is pretty much as good as these two, try Piropos. They have excellent steaks as well as chicken and seafood.

The peppercorn encrusted filet at Piropos in briarcliff village is, IMHO, the best steak in KC
