Yup, I wouldn't recommend any other size on that wheel. 225/40's will work, both run-flats and non run-flats. But ET20 sounds aggressive depending on what car it's going on - E90, E92, E90-LCI?

pushing the wheel out 14mm from stock shouldnt be too aggressive if stock sports suspension. im on 8.5 et 30 up front and could have gone to et25-28 just fine.

those seem to be a pretty square shoulder. Since you are not dropped it should be fine. Search on here for people with the same offsets to see how it looks

You're right. It'll be pretty flush though. Like deerfield said as well, it depends on the tires, different tires have different sidewalls and the difference between rubbing and not rubbing is only 1-2mm.
