Audio crackle when 3.5mm accessory connected

When I have my iPod connected via the 3.5mm audio jack, at random times I hear a very pronounced crackling in my speakers, as if the cable is freyed. I've replaced the cable and made sure all connections are secure, but I noticed that I only hear it when the car is decelerating. It can be as slight as 1mph reduction in speed, most of the time I can recreate it. It happens about 50% of the time I'm driving, the other 50%... No problems. Its startling sometimes because all of a sudden it'll be like white noise when I'm not expecting it. I work in IT and therefore know the basics of AV but can't figure out what this is. Its not like when I hit a bump or something, its really weird. Suggestions on what to look for or anyone else getting this, info would really be appreciated. I know its not my iPod because it only happens in my car.

Couple options...

Try a new cable.
Try another iPod/audio device (just to be sure)
Put a filter in between the input and your iPod.

I currently have a device called Tunelink (some swear by it like me and others have horrible failure rates with them). It is a little bluetooth interface for autos with an aux port and in our case we have the power and aux port in the same place, which makes it even easier.

Good luck!

Try turning the auxiliary volume down. I can't tell you how to get there, because I've been without my car for a month, but it's in the menu somewhere(search forum, I found it that way). My car is at the dealership, engine went out, go figure (piston 4 in oil pan at 60k). Driving a 2014 528 loaner in the meantime. I miss my 335i . Anyways, what I did when i had this problem was turn my iphone volume up and the auxiliary volume on the radio down but not really sure to what level(maybe try zero). Hope this helps.

A tiny shot of CAIG DeoxIT D5 into the jack bush may help instantly.
