Booked mine in, they did try to fob me off for 4 weeks .... But I wasn’t having any of it, so it’s in next week to get sorted.

This is quite common.
But doesn't explain the earlier than 2007 build date cars that all use the exact same part number.

BMW usually change part numbers with the change in manufacturer

I was at BMW yesterday for an MOT and my March 2011 335i isn't on the affected list.

Might have been done previously mine a 2011 build had the 'enhancement' done last year at Rybrook Warwick on calling them after the news broke was told it was fine with no need to worry.

I do Wonder how much of this bought up by watchdog is caused by a lot of cars being out of the dealer network with owner details not properly registered with BMW so contact couldn't be made previously for fixing last year etc. Same as when it went ape with timing chains after watchdog how many were serviced correctly with correct oil with patchy service history of run by a rep with low oil for weeks because they couldn't be arsed before handing it back for next owner to suffer the consequence.

Be the same as a service so yeah should do a courtesy car I would Imagine book in advance FOC with a big excess or £15 for full excess and damage waiver. Or it was last time I had one

My 55 plate 330d has been affected so has my brothers 07 plate 330d. We both called our local dealership to confirm and it's on the MOT checker gov uk website.

"In the meantime, should I keep driving my car?
An early indication of the situation is given by the car failing to electronically unlock or a flickering in the instrument panel. BMW says the problem generally occurs when the vehicle is stationary - the vehicle will not unlock or cannot be started.

Following these signals, if the car continues to be used, there is the possibility of power failure while driving.

If your car fails to unlock or start due to a loss of electric power, contact your nearest BMW retailer who can advise you on completing the recall repair."

I have been having those symptoms of the car not starting occasionally and the car not locking / opening. Haven't had the issue enough for it to raise any eyebrows though. But i'm glad the cause of this safety recall seems to be culprit.

My brothers 330d on the other hand suddenly had a failed speedo cluster, he had it repaired for £250 last month by a indie garage who said he is lucky it was just the wire that burnt out !!! and not an ECu fault or anything. He will be taking his receipt to BMW as it's definitely due to this failed wire that his speedo cluster stopped working. He should technically be reimbursed what he paid.

😂 BMW’s prices are insane! I’ve just refreshed my whole suspension for approx £650.

My bet is with this recall they have been told to find other jobs to make up some extra money.

Parts for the blower motor fuse link are not yet in the dealers. So I was all for postponing my booking for the battery lead recall until they were. But the dealer was insistent we went ahead. They will inspect the fuse link and order parts if needed. Loan car provided by the way...

Mine now appears to be on the recall list, I suspect for the blower motor, will arrange to take it to my local stealer which is a bit of a bore, it took them 4 attempts to get me the right part last time I used them

I know the recall work is mandatory.... but do you need to have BMW warranty to get a loan car... or is this through your own insurance?

I asked for it and got it. Simples! No warranty and not on insurance.
