Great looking car and a good spec though iDrive does bring more than just NAV. The engine just gets better, mine is a year old now and flying!

I wouldnt mind having the idrive and nav - but didnt really want to spend another £1200 or whatever it is on top of what I'd already spec'd.

Yes I would assume the performance will increase in time. I did notice driving it back from the dealer the day I bought it that it didnt pick up as well as my old one in low revs in 6th gear on the motorway. However, the car only had about 20 miles on it - so I shouldnt expect too much yet.

You may find that the new engine is more petrol like, and so likes being revved - also, with the variable vein turbo it should have a more linear power delivery which might mean it has less of that traditional derv kick, and more of a smooth shove right round to 5k (not driven the old 330d so just assuming).

I think you're right. May be a little more linear than the old one - seems the low down torque is missing a little. But you can still feel it when you rev it

I emailed the dealer with regards on how I should drive it - running in etc.... he replied: "Your fine to drive the car how you feel, there is no running in time required." So I will

The only very minor criticism I have of the E90 in both pre and post LCI is the steering ratio. Meaning that you have to turn the wheel that bit more when going round corners and roundabouts etc... compared with other cars. Makes entering a roundabout quickly a bit of a chore having to wind the wheel left-right-left. Even my old Vectra needed less of the turn of the wheel to go around corners. I think the M3 is less turns lock to lock so I guess they address this on the M3? My mate has a Z4 M and he says his steering is very quick.
Anyway only a minor point and I would assume this can be improved with the active steering option.

I got £10K for my 2006 330d with 67K miles. That was a very good price compared with other dealers. My local dealer wanted to offer me £8.5K trade in against the same spec new car.
