Just got my powerbox in the mail and installed it today...I was a little worried cause it seemed a bit complicated for the install, but it really wasnt that bad...took my time and it was about an hour and a half...did it in the freezing cold too, couldnt wait lol...anyways, I installed it, crossed my fingers and didnt get any errors....started up the car, put it onto map 3 and I love the difference, it's very noticeable...from the way it takes off, it feels like the car's much lighter.....driving w/ ds is alot of fun too...thanks mike for ur help with it n for sending it out so quick

The PBX produces a nice power gain but it is no where near the power gain that would damage the stock internals. If you get into supercharging or turbo charging the engine, then I would think about upgrading those parts.

So does anyone know what parameters other than the throttle map this PBX modifies to achieve these gains? More specifically what does the Performance tuning entail?

Adjusts the air fuel ratio and spark timing.
Boosts the throttle signal by 0%, 30%, 60%, or 100%.
I believe that it increases the engine timing by 2 degrees.

As for will it damage my motor... NO!

Throw on a single turbo and then you'll be in trouble. Apparently our tranny can't support a lot of torque. 400lbs max? o 350? I can't remember. So an increase of 10 hp/tq isn't going to do squat.

Also I highly recommend at least throwing on an intake and a muffler delete along with a PBX.

My tranny feels like its going to blow up at any time as is without any performance upgrades to the car.

Wouldn't we lose our warranty if we install the PBX?

I haven't heard of anybody throwing any codes after install so you are pretty much safe. The PBX also give you the ability to turn it off from within the car so you can take it in with it off. There are a few threads of people bringing in their cars for maintenance with the PBX on without any issues.

If you are very paranoid about warranty or any other issues you can always just remove it before going in.

Talking Powerbox

I'm reading all the positive feedbacks and it looks like I'll buy one ASAP. As a first time BMW owner I was kind of dissapointed with lack of sensitivity when you press the gas pedal on my 07 328i.I have driven Accord for many years and at low RPM's the accord behave better than my BMW. Of course when you step on it, there is no comparesment. Sometime I wish I'd be back in Europe to enjoy the speed without being affraid to get ticketed.
My problem is: I was going to buy Escort 9500ix radar detector (I finaly made a decisision over V1) and now I'm tempted to buy PBX. Of course I realise I will need both.So should I reach in my savings? (before I get my speeding ticket)?

lol for me i would've just gotten the PBX since i don't speed that often around here since cops are everywhere where i live. I say go for the pbx first since it's something that you can feel right away and won't necessarily need the escort right away.

I'd get the PBX first as that will definitely help make your drive much more enjoyable.

How is the installation? I took a look at the install instructions on their site and it looks a little overwhelming with all the wires. Am I wrong?

Its okay. You just have to take your time and go slow and its pretty simple. I would reserve an hour for the first time.

I feel your pain.. I work in IT (network ops) so all those wires looked like a spider web to me. My boy did the a chip in his 335i so I had him do mine. Took him roughly 40min to do and that's with removing all the pieces to get to the ECU.
