Thank you for the thread! I just got a 2010 335i E93 and I just love it. It's absolutely perfect. I don't know if, when the time comes, I'll be able to replace it with anything other than another BMW convertible.

Except for the audio. The base system is absolutely horrific and it's driving me bananas. No highs, no lows, no volume. I can't even think of what mods to add until this is fixed. What's the go-to for these cars? Musicar?

The audio doesn't bother me so I can't help you there but congrats and welcome!

Check your audio settings; you should have HiFi/Logic 7 as you have a 335i. The top-hifi system in these cars are phenomenal. What are the last 7 digits of your VIN number? I can look up what system you have.

Also, what input source are you using? Try a CD if you haven't.

Dynavin N6 reciever. Speakers and amps what you prefer. Odk how to convert the base system. The upgraded system is just plug and play. Idk if the base system has the wuring, enclosures, etc.

The last seven are P474092. I've got no tweeters in my A-pillars (if you know what I mean), so I'm pretty sure this isn't a HiFi.

It's driven by the single-DIN-ish Professional head unit, so the Dynavin N6 won't fit.

Yup, you have the base system. That's unfortunate, but you do have a few upgrade options:

Here in Australia anything over 28 degrees Celsius with the sun up is too hot for the top down.
I live down here in South Texas near the border and once it hits 93 then I can't take it and have to put the top back up but 92 is about as high as I'm willing to go.

I wouldn't have believed it (almost didn't try it) but I just got this car and was so desperate to go top-down last week that I did it on a clear, sunny 34F (about 1C?) afternoon. Top down, windows up, seat heaters on 2, cabin heater set to auto in the mid-70s. I was quite comfortable except that when I got up to freeway speeds I was wishing I had a pair of gloves. Directed the vents at my hands and carried on! Won't hesitate to do it again. The 335is exhaust sounds so freaking amazing with the top down.

Love Atlantic blue. Hard to color match if you need to replace something so try not to scratch it lol.

I think I know what car I'm buying next (need to sell my e90 328xi first tho) Wanted to mod it, but decided it's not worth it. Better to get the car that you like in the first place if you going to mod it. Otherwise it's money spent in vein. Due to limited funds, will be looking at e93 335 under $14K

I have some questions for you guys and gals:
1. Anything specific to look for in e93 335? Besides common things with e90 (gaskets, wp/ts, turbines, hpfp). I'm guessing hard top mechanism? Is it common to fail on cars at about 100k miles?
2. What optional packages to look for in e93? Are they same as in e90? For example can I get 335xi with Auto and Sport and Premium package? Is Sport suspension on xi e93 same "fake" sport as in e90 xi?
3. Lci e93 is worth overpaying over pre-lci? Meaning any worthwhile improvements or options? I've heard sound system was changed in Lci for better, but not sure how true it is
4. Is insurance any different compared to sedans e90?
Even if you can answer 1 of the questions I would appreciate. Thanks!

Sorry, I can only answer #4. I don't believe insurance is any different for these cars.

1. Make sure top works properly and no leaks. Otherwise same as e90 etc.
2. Sport, comfort access, idrive, ski bag, L7 stereo. Rest are minor or preference.
3. Stereo the same. N55 engine instead of N54, different bumpers, different mirrors, different headlights and taillights, rest basically the same. Idrive was updated in 2009.
4.idk but older is cheaper.

I know you can get a f33xi vert. (Redundant? Lol)

Did they make an e93 Xi? I didn't think they did.

How often you drive with top down? Have you had any vandalism when you leave your car with top down or when driving let's say through downtown? I'm just interested in those things because I never had vert before

I drive top down anytime it's sunny and warm enough. So basically spring to fall where I am.
I would only leave my car top down alone if I'm in a nice area and only for ten minutes or so. I worry not only about theft but also about bird poo and sudden rain.

I usually also drive with the top down when it is warm and sunny - sometimes cool and crisp too if the sun is out.

When I drive to work and park in the garage I usually leave top down, haven't had any trouble. Windows up and wind deflector up - doesn't do much but might deter some. If I park on the street usually top goes up for the bird poo issue, same in parking lots - if it is a quick stop I might take my chances.
