Anyone able to tell me if this battery is a direct replacement?

I heard if you get a battery that is of same condition/amp/voltage you don't need to get it coded or do anything. it would be a direct swap.

Sorry for the upside down picture- it won't rotate it for me.

The usual battery is a group 49/h8 with about 90 to 100
amp hours . Since most battery list reserve capacity you
have to run that through a equation to translate it to amp hours.
Lots of lengthy threads about this.
You cannot change to AGM without programming or vice a versa.
I have an interstate megatron 49/h8.
Some people by walmart batterys the important thing is to match
type and amp hours.

Thank you. This was very helpful. What sort of pricing should I be looking out for?

Well just look at the brands with that rating .
At walmart I have heard of people picking up
replacements for around 110 the better brands
are at around 200 ish. They should have a vent if
they are lead acid which the vent tube attaches to.

That is an AGM 70 Amp-Hour (AH) battery. My local Wal-Mart doesn't carry AGM batteries. They just have the standard vented lead-acid batteries. But I see Wal-Mart lists AGM batteries online, so it is likely that some larger stores carry them.

Many batteries have a capacity expressed in minutes of Reserve Capacity (RC) which is the number of minutes the battery will discharge at 25 Amps without dropping below 10.5 volts. You can roughly convert from minutes of Reserve Capacity to Amp-Hours by dividing the Reserve Capacity (RC) by 2 and adding 16 to get the approximate capacity in Amp-Hours. It is not a direct comparison because the Amp-Hour rating is at a lower discharge rate for a longer time (typically 20 hour rate) as compared to RC.

Would it be a wise choice to use this AGM battery?

If you are going from lead acid to AGM or the other way
you will need to program the car for battery type.
I just don't see the need to make this change its just
a battery. I would not skimp on the amp hour capacity as
these cars are battery hogs.

Noted. I was told that I need to reprogram my battery anyways, regardless. Even for an OEM swap.

If you match it , it only needs to be registered as new
which is much easier than changing the type and other parameters.

I'm not too crazy about Walmart (Johnson Control) batteries. Picked up one for my old GTI and it only lasted less than 2.5yrs. Car was parked in the garage just about every night and driven often.
