E90 Transmission clicking noise
Hi all,
I have 2007 bmw 323i AT with 46,000 miles. I started hearing a a slow clicking noise at the left front fender (driver side) well with the car idling in Park. It is slow and steady and only occurs when the car is in Park or Neutral only. It is not related to engine lifters or other engine ticks. Replicate the issue: When the car driven and warm up, and then park it while it still idling (Transmission on either Park or Neutral) .. I hear a clicking noise. and if I shift to (D)rive or (R)everse , the sound disappeared. This is how the noise sounds: https://vocaroo.com/i/s1n1hEcaUHY4 Please help me as this thing concerns me, is it transmission issue? what is the right way to diagnose it? Thank you all so much! |

Where are you located?
I think the right way to diagnose it is to have a reputable mechanic take a look

Thanks for your replay. I am in Canada, Vancouver. Today I just came back from my independent mechanic shop. And we track the ticking noise all the way to the upper transmission cooler line. He is not a bmw expert and he did not know what is going on. Please let me know if you have someone in mind. That woud be great. This thing really scares me as it is related to the transmission. Thank you |
