Review: Riss Racing Intake
First Off OMG I LOVE THIS INTAKE!!!
Install was a breeze with the included DIY instructions. I attached a couple of pics with it installed, the sound is amazing not to loud, but not unnoticed, its PERFECT! I can also notice an increase in power up top in the RPM range. GOOD JOB RISS RACING! Also, i have had many complements on how AWESOME it looks, sounds, performs. If your on the fence about this intake, jump off that fence RIGHT NOW! THIS INTAKE RULES! Just thought id let you know. Jeff

Thanks, but you can get the 128i/328i snorkel or just wait for stage 2

...when I saw the OPs first photo, honestly, I didn't think it was installed yet! It certainly is a bit *mismatched* regards color, fit and finish to the rest of the engine bay. OTOH, the argument of using a single large filter (sorta like the OEM one ) to better balance the airflow into both turbos is probably a sound one. Unfortunately, this design will not benefit by having scoops since it appears little, if any, of the air from the remaining (and rather unfinished looking) OEM plumbing seems to reach the big cone.

the filter placement looks similar to the HVI intake, just with a collecting "duct" that may equalize amount of air going to the turbos, It would be nice to see if does actually perform well on the dyno, either way congrats to the op enjoy your new intake.

Does that filter make contact with the hood/liner? It looks pretty big for that spot.

Looks are in the eyes of the beholder - I am assuming it works way better than it looks - function over form, just don't open your hood!

Even if it made 10more HP than the next best intake, no way that's gracing my engine bay. Something that looks like that belongs under some sort of plastic shroud so you can't see it. I eagerly await the stage 2 that actually matches Riss' reputation for function and form.

That part of the motor has the coolest air. Its away from the heat on top of the motor and will work great with stage II and III. The entire system will take the most amount of cold/dense air in the shortest amount of time! |

The filter size is the absolute biggest for that location. There's really no other room other than on top of the motor. Its too hot and you'll never get dense air there. Especially with the cooler nights now, the intakes are going to perform so much better! |
