Borla 2nd cat delete..droning..help

Today I installed a full Borla System. Cat back and racing pipes which eliminates second Cats...It sounds great but at around 2k RPM it drones a bit......

I dont want to go just catback since then cats will be taking power from engine.

Should I put a resonator and which one ???

yes u'll need resonators to kill the drone. but im not sure which ones to get. i know that rennart sells resonated pipes to be installed instead of the cat delete pipes but im not sure if they'll fit with the borla cat back. you're going to have to check with rennart.

Just install some catless downpipes, then it'll be loud all the time, you won't even notice the drone

To be honest, I don't notice mine on the 335i now, the exhaust on my other cars has been so much worse (or better depending on your viewpoint) from a noise perspective.

I guess it personal preference...I just can't see a BMW sound loud like a CIVIC, any kind of drone is annoying and if you have passengers who are not use to this hmmmmmmmmmm noise, it makes it even worse for them! I think resonators will help you, but you should have done some research before you bought the exhaust.

Yes..

Maybe try contacting Harold at HPAutowerks... He's got a pretty good relationship with Borla and can probably get you some resonators that can do the job.,..

+1

This is the exact reason why I went back to stock exhaust w/ catless DPs.

I recommend you get some AR25 resonators to try first, they eliminate drone very well.

Yes you should but I personally did not want to spend anymore $$ into the exhaust so just had the 2nd cats slapped back on.....drone is very very minimal now.

With the 2nd cat placed back on less raspy and not quite as deep sounding but still deeper than stock.
All that mattered to me was the drone was 90% eliminated around 2-2.5 K rpm and no more headaches everytime I drove my car.
