Can't wait to get the PROcede upgrade, but I sure as heck will miss the XEDE name. It's so catchy, great for marketing, and sounds hella cool when you tell your friends you got the 'XEDE'.
On the other hand, PROcede is uh...I'll be telling my friends I got my car 'chipped' instead, and screw the correct nomenclature / technicality. ![]()

Not sure if you had your car in Dec. when Shiv came for the 2-day Xede Install/Dyno event, but if so, you could've come then. I know you were "on the list." What happened? I don't know if Shiv's coming back now that he's ready to ship out the final version "PROcede."

I will have my 335 by the end of this month, already ordered my PROcede 2 days ago, and will be more than willing to participate in a dyno day here in Florida if it happens. That would be really cool!

Not that I have any clout or special marketing background, but I think I might listen to the people questioning the name...they're your customers, and the people doing most of your advertising. If they decided to drop the name and just say, "I got my car chipped by Shiv." It my not quite have the same panache to those who don't know the great Shiv Vishnu. PROcede just sounds... corny. Xede... kinda cool. Just my two cents. Whatever the name, it's a great product. Wish I had the cajones to put it on my leased 335i. My salesman said I should get it. Hmmm.... Anyone in Iowa need a Xede....er... PROcede? Hell... Do we have a Dyno in Iowa?

I heard Rogaine works better
hey shiv since there is not going to be anymore beta-Xedes out, why don't you just leave the name to Xede. My friend who is balding looked at me funny when I said I am going put procede in my car.

I also agree that the name should remain Xede, but it's not our decision; there may be other factors involved in this name change. ![]()

Hi guys,
Keeping the Xede name isn't an option. The Xede was not our product. We were just the nerds in charge of distribution and US application development/tuning. The product itself belonged a an Australian company. During the last 4 years of supporting the Xede, we took it as far as we could go with it given the hardware. But with a limited number of inputs and outputs, we simply couldn't do things like VANOS control, speed limiter defeats, closed loop boost control, etc,--- all the things we KNEW that we wanted to eventually do with the 335i (as well as in other applications). This is why we only used the Xede platform as for beta testing. And this is why we only released a couple dozen of them. We knew we would have to replace every single one when the ante is upped. No one wants to be left with old technology. The beta period gave us the time and info we needed to quantify and address whatever limitations/shortcomings we could find. Every single diagnostic code that we tripped (thanks again to the beta guys for their feedback and understanding!), every single loss of CAS sync we logged, ever single little glitch we found was going to be addressed by our own system. Something that had the hardware guts we needed to move forward with. The Xede is going through a major redesign later this year and there's a good chance that it'll be back in the playing field in a new-and-improved form. But the show must go on. As for the name, all of the people we asked, months back, liked it. Of course, we're always open to suggestions. If someone has a better name, let's hear it! cheers, shiv |

How about PROXEDE?
As in Pro-EXEDE and as in by PROXY. prox·y (prŏk'sē) 1. The authority to act for another. The PROXEDE is the proxy between the engine and ECU. I know, such a nerd . |

wow...how funny, i just now noticed the Rogaine post above..
How about calling it something along the lines of "Xenon"...representing bright technology, or ZMAX, or ZFLOW, MAXFLOW, Xirconium, Lithium,Stratos,Xenor.....we should all come up with some names, and then make a poll. Actually, I think it would be very cool to call it the Vishnu ION Equipped 335i. "ION" is simple, sounds scientific, mysterious, and not too ghay. Anyone second this? Not that the 335i could ever be mistaken for a Saturn, but I wonder if GM has a trademark lock on the "ION" label..........Okay...how about "XION" ?? As far as the name, I'm thinking:
1. Xacerbate (by definition of exacerbate.."increase in severity, bitterness, or violence") 2. Xploit (probably too antagonistic) 3. Vishnosterone/Shivosterone (sorry) 4. Muse (inspires potential) 5. Xtract (oops, no traction) 6. Sexede (sorry again) 7. Kraut Rock :rocks: 8. Wolf Like Me (my current favorite speeding song, TV on the Radio) ![]() |

i agree u should change the name to something other than PROcede.
it doesnt sound that great, and since its already a fairly widely known men's baldness medicine, i think a name change is a no brainer. dont ask me what though ![]()
