New Recall

I dropped my car this morning for amplifier problem and my SA said there is a new recall for our D. He did not know details, but I'll post later if I know more.

Does it only apply to certain build dates?

FWIW, I looked around on NHTSA's site, and didn't find anything for our d's. Of course, that doesn't mean too much, the site might not be up to date, and this action might not be a full recall.

I feel like every time I bring the car to the dealer there is another recall and my mpg goes down each time.

Thought I read someone else saying this recall was something about the SCR mixer. If so that's well downstream of the engine and should have no impact on MPG.

I wasn’t very happy when he told me there is another recall because I just did one three week a go.

When will you be able to talk to the dealer and get him to spill?

Yes, I had this one (along with the EGR) done two saturdays ago.

The SCR mixer was part of the EGR valve recall, depending on the manufacture date of the car. If this new recall involves the SCR mixer again, that will be really weird.

When was your car built? I'm wondering (hoping) that your build date might be more recent, and thus this campaign might be for more recently built cars that did not get SCR attention in the EGR recall. The campaign number falls in sequence with the EGR campaign numbers, but who knows if that really means anything.

In the meantime, I'm going to try to get my SA to answer my call and see if I can get more details to share.

Just got a call back from my SA; he told me that this recall was done on my car at the time they did the EGR valve recall, so I'm good to go (hooray). It looks like we can check with the dealer that did our EGR recall to make sure we're okay - at least based on my experience. @igom3, I'm not sure why the dealer didn't do this when they did the other recall a few weeks ago, unless they didn't know about it for some reason.

My car was build 07/2010, and according to my SA they didn't know about SCR when the car was in for EGR! Go figure
