Question for those that have remapped..

Long time ponderer, getting closer to signing on the line for the Evolve remap!

I have been reading all about others who have committed and loved the end result, but has anyone had an issue post-remap and would, with hindsight, not undertaken the work?

Im probably just a worrier, therefore the new Evolve box seems to fix most of my issues regarding warranty, and Evolve offer some sort of engine warranty should BMW not cover anything...

Also, is it worth getting a post map rolling road, or should I keep the cost down? Im not bothered about a print out showing exact bhp, Im sure I could feel the incremental difference behind the wheel..

I've had 4 cars remapped in total;

Skoda Fabia vRS - REVO 180bhp - no issues in around 6 months driving
Volvo S60R - RICA 350bhp - had a sensor give up shortly afterwards, the map was pretty aggressive though!
BMW 325d - E-Maps 230bhp - no issues whatsoever in 6 months
BMW 330d - Evolve 300bhp - no issues whatsoever in 12 months

If it has a turbo, it must be remapped IMO - purely to get the best out of it - modern engines are designed to run on crap fuel, extreme temperatures, poor servicing - if you don't have these issues, then release the hidden power!!

335D with superchips map has been great (performance wise and economy wise) apart from limp mode at Nurburgring (twice) and blown rear diff after 12 months... I dont know if these problems are related but I'm still happy with the end result... a diesel that's as quick if not quicker most other cars on the road.

With the evolve remap you will () notice the difference, so as you're not fussed about new bhp no need to RR!

I went for the Evolve map on my 320d. Due to the fact that the ECU is a newer unit the software did not work. This is being resolved and all I can say is the service from Imran @ Evolve is second to none. The refunded my costs and let me keep the Unit until the software has been sorted then off I go.

I've done 25K miles since my remap without any problems at all. I had the same worries initially, I think most of us worry about the warranty etc but now I wouldn't hesitate to get any future turbo car remaped.

I have remapped every car ive owned ( well apart from my Datsun 120A ) and in my younger day I used to thrash they hell out of them and never had any probs. It's a must for a turbo car

I wouldnt hesitate to remap my 335D again.

No problems so far 'touch wood' used Evolve - as per my review (or two) and would do so again, will be using them for more work in the near future.

Increase in MPG though? Definately not on mine.

Matt
