Hi everyone,

As the title suggests, I am building an anomaly.

I have a 2006 E90 so I will be replacing the FRMFA...

Now... I changed my trunk to LCI and put the LED LCI tail lights.

I also have Pre-LCI AHL Xenons that I will be retrofitting on.

So I have an option to buy a 2009+ LCI FRM2 with AHL Xenon, but would that work with my Pre-LCI AHL Xenons?

Also can the FRM2 be coded to accept the LED taillights and blinkers?

I don't see why you couldn't. your car has frmpl2 which is from but with xenon and ahl. the frm2 if I'm not mistaken has the same features as frmpl2 we with options for lci tail lights and headlights. people upgrade the 06 from module to from and from all the time

Just make sure the FRM 2 module is for AHL. It will say AHL on the label. If you have the original FRM module, you most definitely have an FRM 1.

You can even use an FRM3 module but it will cost you more $$$.

Best bet is to get a used FRM 2 module from a reputable seller on eBay.

Make sure it says number 23 in the box, located on the label.

Just installed and FRM2 AHL with a 23 in the box into my 2006 e90 335i today. Was completely surprised that every light and lock worked perfectly on startup. Anyways, there are a couple of good deals on ebay for them under $100 OBO, snagged mine for $71 and free shipping. Its a bit of a pain getting that thing out and then back in.

Ditto! I can't say the same, setting up welcome lights and angel eye DRLs were a PITA. Few things won't work at random times, I fear the FRM I bought ($50 on ebay) is going out
