AUX/USB/Bluetooth

Hi all, I know this has probably been covered over and over... I just can't find the right answer so bear with me

Recently purchased an E91 with the following multimedia options:

S609 Navigation System Professional
S612 BMW Assist
S615 Extended BMW Online Information
S616 BMW Online
S620 Voice Control
S633 Preparation, Mobile Phone, Business
S694 Provisions For BMW 6 CD Changer
S698 Area-Code 2 For DVD
S6AA BMW TeleServices
S6AB Control, Teleservices
S6FL USB/Audio Interface
S6VC Control, Combox

I can't, for the life of me work out why the bluetooth isn't working. As soon as I select 'Telephone' or 'Bluetooth Media' I get a "Please wait..." message with a spinning circle - nothing happens - even after hours of waiting.

I read something elsewhere where the recommendation was to test the 'SOS' button - I did it and it connected straight to the emergency services in the UK - so that works.

I've never been able to connect a phone via bluetooth (called BMW Connected Drive) who asked me to download the updated software for bluetooth.

Fresh USB stick formatted to FAT32 and popped the software on it. Car wouldn't recognise there's anything plugged in (tried the USB in the glovebox and the centre console), neither of them recognised anything.

There's power to both the USB ports, the AUX allows me to select it but the volume is stuck on 1 bar (no audio through the AUX port though).

So, to summarise, the Bluetooth, AUX and USB's don't seem to work... Any help or points in the right direction would be appreciated!

Check for power at the Module and check that there is not water on around
the module for starters. There should be fuse for the unit though I couldn't
tell you which one .

Is this a car you just purchased or did you have it for some time?

Just purchased… not worked for me as yet!

The unit under the false floor in the boot?

Yes, that has power. The USB's also have power.

Do you know what the unit under the floor in the boot is? Would it be worth trying to find a used (working unit) on eBay for cheap to find out if it's that that doesn't work?

The part number is on the unit in general unless they have some how
been destroyed. It will be a mulf 2 hi or a combox on a newer car.
Right in you VO printout is says Combox.
So that is what the car had when it was made have you looked at it?

I have looked at it, it isn't wet, bashed-up or anything. I'll take a look for the part number on it.

Do you know if a faulty one of those would stop the Bluetooth/USB/AUX from doing its job?

Yes that location is where bluetooth comes from in every car and usb
in most cars.

Look up some of the Combox retrofit thread if you want more detail.

During the last year of production they started moving the USB ,bluetooth
and Sat into the radio mostly in Europe.

It's always important to list the year and model of your car an your country.
Because the way they do stuff changes on the basis of that.

BUT IT SAYS RIGHT IN YOUR VO IN THE FIRST ENTRY THE CAR CAME
WITH A COMBOX AND 6FL .

If you really want to work on these cars you need Standard Tools Software
and ISTA D.

Thanks! It's a U.K. car and it's a 2012 if that makes any difference.

I'll have a look at that thread, thank you!
