Turner Valved Exhaust

Anyone install this thing yet? I just picked it up so wanted to start a thread on it.

https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5...xhaust-system/

I'm also thinking of using a toggle switch instead of the key fob. This one is pretty slick

Just program the remote to your stock garage door opener buttons, that way it looks built in

Oh that would be pretty sick.

I wonder if there is a easy plug and play solution to gain manual control on the stock OE valve. I was reading a thread where someone was trying that but it kinda died out.

Would love to close it around cops just to be sure.

Its just any remote infrafed remote can be programmed. I did it with my exhaust meister valve controller.

I don't have garage door opener buttons I plan on mounting the button in a nice location

Most definitely! Turner might sell the valve control electronics separately. It just a solenoid controlled by a wireless switch. Just put that in line of the OE vac line, unplug the oe electronic plug so it stays open and voila! You now have control over it

Looks awesome, would love to hear how it sounds.

I'm much more interested in a 3.5" midpipe though, lot of weight savings to be had. Wish there was a valved exhaust option with 3.5" midpipe, might have to get creative.

I hate that my iS doesn't have convenience package, wasn't a deal breaker for me though. I would like to retrofit it but it's so far down the list.

I am one step ahead of you

I am going to see how it sounds as is, then going to do a 2-1 collector just after the d p , run a 3.5 midpipe and resonator (link below), then 1-2 back out to the mufflers.

https://www.amazon.com/Vibrant-17970.../dp/B0038HRNZM

Not only does that way weigh less, apparently the single mid pipe is the key to eliminating rasp... from what I've heard anyways

Oh wow, that's exactly what I want! I've heard the same regarding the 3.5" midpipe + vibrant, sounds great. You doing the welding yourself?

Nice still pretty expensive for me since it's not really critical. In the other thread we were finding all the parts for like 30$ ish. It was just the wiring part I was lost.

I'd have to find that thread again.

I bought some wire and a cheap on-off latching anti vandal switch, if you unplug the connector in the back you can wire in positive to the switch and run the wires up through the backseat and center console. on is OE behavior, off is just like the golf tee mod, it turns off the valve and leaves it open.

Cost less than $20

If you wan't to make it permanent, just snip the positive wire (leaving the plug connected) and use these

Hey I'm a bit dense but once I understand I become pretty good. So right now I'm still in the "don't understand part" so if you don't mind can I just ask a few questions since I'm really interested in this.

The image you posted shows the switch with a red and black wire but just to confirm the black isn't ground right? Because a positive wire has to come from connector (coming out of DME) into the switch, then a positive wire has to come out the switch into the valve? So does that means I have to wire a ground in between both connectors without going through the switch. Am I understanding this correctly?

Also to leech off the stock connectors, I guess I use like a spade connector on some wire or another way?

You can wire it like this.

Using this connector, if you want to make it permanent you cut into the red wire and use two of the blue connectors (they are simple crimpers to splice two wires together) you can get at any hardware store usually.

Depending on the switch you get your wiring will be different, for these latching anti vandal push buttons you can wire NC or NO. Normally open, or normally closed, depending on what you want the pressed state of the button to be. LED wiring may vary. You don't need to ground, so your assumption is correct, the switch is inline. In positive, out positive. You only need to ground if you are using a switch with an LED that needs to get grounded.

Run wires under the liner up through the back of the trunk along otherwires and under the seat, up the center, or whatever

This is the switch I like and am using, no LED

Looks like your gonna need a center mounted bumper like an M3 replica for example.

Please post a video of what it sounds like.

Ok thank you so much for the great reply. I understand now.

One last question if I don't want to tap the stock harness, is there a way I could tap using the connector ends? I could make a harness myself I guess but then the ground would still need to go straight to the other side some how.

While I want something permanent for me I rather not have something permanent to the whole life of the car know what I mean.
