Hiding MHD cable, ideas plz..

So I bought the 45 degree obd2 cable extension to be able to put the obd cover back on and route the dcan cable behind the dash and out to my tablet, but I was thinking about wiring it through the center a/c vents since that's where my tablet sits and just figured I'd see what others have done first before I dive in there..

Please feel free to share your pics of your hidden cable setups that run from the OBD2 port to wherever your device is..

Thanks in advance..

Interested

I was thinking of unscrewing the obd and turning it around and running the cable under the steering wheel.

in for ideas too, also where did you get the 45 degree cable that allows you to snap the cover back on?

I actually ran my COBB AP3 cord from the OBDII through the kick panel (or whatever it's called) beneath the steering wheel. Then I ran it along the small gap between the center console (just in front of the ash tray) and the CD player. The cord fits literally perfectly and is just long enough for the connector to poke out and plug into the AP3.

In the picture above, I pulled the cord out just a bit so that you could see where it is - however, normally I have it completely tucked so that you cannot see it. Been that way for weeks and hasn't moved - no tape needed, no removal of the vents or dash needed - super easy.

Looking at some of the low profile cables on amazon I see they range from 1' to like 5'.
Does anyone see any issues with the longer cables? I would hate to be flashing a new MHD map and have it loose some Data packets.

This is my only worry too, using a cheap extension like that..

Yeah I was speaking with Martial about it.. It seems like it's still a lil ways out though so I'm gonna run the cable for now, and when it comes out I'll jump ship..

It's easy to re-wire things so that it looks better/cleaner, but be advised do NOT mess with the original OBDII port if you're in a state that requires emissions, as some of them (like Arizona, for example) mandate that the OBDII port has to be in stock location and the mechanic has to be able to plug their test equipment in with one hand. They actually failed me for that once, as my OBDII port housing cracked so I relocated it. So if you mess with it, just use a 90* adapter from the stock location and have that routed however you like... was funny. My car passed all the other tests but to fail on a stupid cracked OEM location OBDII port took the cake. Ah well, easily fixed.

Stupid question maybe - leaving the MHD OBDII Cable always plugged could not cause a flat battery after some days/week of the car not being used ?

I was planning to do something like that (cable better integrated) but the risk (real or not...) to find a dead battery when I really need the car to start has stopped me (for now).
