According to makkan00, yes you need rear PDC.

In theory you could just install just the pdc module without the senors in the trunk. Used modules are around $100 on ebay. I haven't heard of anyone doing this, so I can't say for sure it would work.

So this will work on a 2007 e92 335i. I want to buy this adapter so i can make my splices on the adapter wires. How about the fiber wires? Are they lart of the adapter too?

Also does anyone know of a USA source? Might take a while to get to the US from germany.

I'm new to this forum. I have a question, I keep seeing people here talking about CIC and CCD, but I don't understand what they are. I have BMW 328i 2010 4 door. So what should I buy to have the correct installation for rear backup camera? Thank You

iDrive was called CCC up to 2008. 2009+ are CIC.

This module should work with either as long as you have PDC.

well just got my camera today so the e-bay seller is a sure source and I can confirm the open button for our trunk is built in with the handle which is great . Have not purchase the emulator yet, but I can at least install the handle and run the wires up front, motivating myself for the install is another thing LOL,
thanx OP for the post.

I have a camera emulator for sale if anyone is interested. I'll sell for less than the eBay seller and you don't have to wait for it to come from China

Not to hijack thread.

I have the emulator, camera & the harness with me for sale.
I bought these within the last month, tried the install & then decided to upgrade the nav system on the whole which I was debating for long. Tapped/spliced emulator wires into the harness.
Requires coding after install.
Ship from 28277 & pm if anyone interested. Thanks.

Rotary Rasp,

I just wanted to confirm that you do indeed have manual transmission vehicle and this still works?

The reason I'm so interested in this is, well canbus does not have the signal for reverse on a typical manual transmission car. Even those multimedia interfaces such as this one: http://www.bimmer-tech.net/shop/bmw-...amera-retrofit

tell you to tap into reverse light on manual transmission cars in order to activate the module to switch input to rear view.

So this means that the reason PDC is required is that it sends reverse gear signal onto the canbus.

My CIC is retrofitted with a can bus emulator and I know this thing does not work with that inline but I'm wondering if there is a way to combine it, the same way as these vendors did

Does this mean that this DIY would work on an auto car without PDC?

I have no idea. Just add PDC, you can buy the module on ebay for pretty cheap.

How about I just fly you out here so you can do the install for me? This seems too complicated with all the coding.

Hi mates,

I am thinking on doing this retrofit in my 2007 car.
It has 507 option (rear PDC) but my CIC has been retrofited with CAN activator (CAN filter or emulator)

Has anyone installed it in a retrofited CIC car with can activator?

The seller says that it is not possible to install it with can activated CIC and I am trying to find out why this could be a problem.

Regards and thanks in advace
