Oh yeah... the car is amazing. I have washed it 5 times in the last 6 days .

I didn't get the ZSP option because my wife complained about the ride quality in our Jetta with sport package and I'm glad I didn't. The car still handles AMAZINGLY well and stays super flat around corners going WAY faster than I should be going but at the same time is comfortable around the city and highway. Best of both worlds so far.

I love the smoothness of the engine and the tightness of the overall structure. If you can love an inanimate object then I love this car

Upcoming events

Just wanted to post three items that might be of interest to folks here:
  1. August 25th - Quinpool Road Cruise
  2. September 8/9 - BMW Advanced Driving School
  3. Results from Atlantic Regional Motor Sports (ARMS) Double Regional AutoSlalom

1 - The Quinpool Road Cruise is going to be re-run on August 25, 2007, due to the July 20th one being such miserable weather. Things start from Tim Hortons on Quinpool Rd. and Vernon St. Be there by 6:30 pm. The cruise goes from there to Point Pleasant Park and back.
For additional info call Mike Chambers at Nautilus (454-4296) give him your name and tell him I sent you and you found out about from the E90 Forum, or if that doesn't work, call me at 456-5229.

2 - The BMW Advanced Driving School. The fall school is being held at Atlantic Motorsport Park (AMP) on September 8/9. This is something that every BMW owner really should do. You won't be able to wipe the smile off your face for at least a week. To register for the school go here:
http://www.bluenosebmwclub.ca/tableO...ts/schools.htm
You'll see a button on the lower left to register online through Karelo.com or you can call George Garner at 443-6369 as with item #1 above tell him I sent you and you picked it up through the E90 Forum, or call me at 456-5229.

3 - The Atlantic Regional Motor Sports (ARMS) Double Regional AutoSlalom was held on August 4/5 at the Slemon Airfield in PEI, and B/SP class was an all BMW affair. 3 M3s and six drivers. The official results have just been released and it's now official that my co-driver (Brian) took not only the B/SP win for the weekend but also the overall FTD (Fastest Time of the Day) excluding the open-wheeled Reynard running in B-Mod. Brian's a far better driver than me and my driving stunk that weekend. It might have had something to do with all the drugs in my system- steroids, codeine, antibiotics, etc.

There was was a nice shoot out between Brian and another good driver from MA, Matt Shoop, whose done some US Solo II (AutoSlalom) National Tour competitions.

Day 1
1st run = Brian: 86.662
- - - - - - - Matt: 86.208

2nd run = Brian: 85.873
- - - - - - - Matt: 85.025

3rd run = Brian: 84.456
- - - - - - - Matt: 84.868+1

4th run = Brian: 83.608
- - - - - - - Matt: 84.744+3

Day 2
1st run = Brian: 88.026
- - - - - - - Matt: 87.572

2nd run = Brian: 86.039+1
- - - - - - - Matt: 86.425

3rd run = Brian: 85.427
- - - - - - - Matt: 86.098

4th run = Brian: 85.450
- - - - - - - Matt: 85.531

As you can see it was a pitched battle with the lead swapping on almost every run. Out of respect for my ego I won't post my results.

Regards, Alan

Paul, there's no problem with a For Sale sign at all.

Have you had many/any E90's show up in the past? I just worry that my car is kinda stock and boring.

No problem with that, besides, I think it looks very nice. Yes it's mostly stock, but she's got such a lovely body.

Ooops, gotta stop the Friday afternoon daydreaming, back to the car, it'll be fine.

The Cruise has mostly been older Classic North American cars stock, custom, and Hot Rods, but it's now branching out to be an overall car show.

Regards, Alan

Hey Alan,

Won't be able to make the cruise as a friend of mine is throwing a going away bar-b-q for me and my family on Saturday. Do you know if people are congregating somewhere after the cruise, like PPP or something? I'd love to come by if they are.

They intend to stay at PPP until it closes to vehicles at 8:00 pm, but AFAIK don't plan anything after that.

Enjoy your BBQ, and keep us informed of your plans for "down south".

I've got a couple of friends from here that will be working season final 6 Hour Endurance Grand-AM Race at VIR just north of you on October 5th-7th.

They work for The Racers Group (TRG) team. just worked the Grand-Am event at Trois Riviere, where their driver Andy Lally's Porsche 997 GT3 got beat by Turner Motorsports' Bill Auberlen's E46 M3 after 2 hours by just 0.267 seconds!!! For the final 10 minutes of the race when they weren't running nose-to-tail they were side-by-side and didn't touch once. One of the fellows is a mechanic while the other is part of the pit crew.

Regards, Alan

Hey guys,

Selling my winter rims/tires in the Halifax area. 17" ASA JH3 rims and Dunlop Winter Sport M3 tires. One winter, approx 3000km on them. Were $1800 new in December 2006, selling for $1000. Will fit the e90.

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul:

Been quite busy, with work, the car, moving along on my wife's list of summer projects for me, etc.

I've been hauling around an E36 M3 rear differential centre-section in the trunk of my daily-driver for almost 2 weeks now and haven't had time to drop it off to my friends place so we can pull the covers off and do some freshening up on it prior to installing it in the M3. It is a 3.38:1 diff out of an automatic versus my 3.15:1. I've run that ratio once in July at AMP and it really improves things, can't wait to get it fixed up and installed.

I told a friend about your E90 and understand his cousin (?) was interested in it and they went to see it, but that was all I heard. Hopefully the guy will buy, but I think this would be his first BMW and he may not be ready to make the jump. Who knows. I did pass on to them that the cars was very well maintained, but I'm sure that's self-evident when looking at it.

Regards, Alan

Hi Jeff:

If you can't make it down to the June or September Bluenose BMW Clubs Advanced Driving Schools at AMP,

then you should consider the Ottawa BMW Clubs July school BMW gathering. It's called Est Fest. They're pretty sure there will be a #3 for 2008. My friends who went as Instructors this July enjoyed the event.

Remember, not only are these schools the most fun you can legally have in your car they are also tax deductible and your normal day-to-day car insurance stays in effect so in the very unlikely event that there were an incident you're covered.

Regards, Alan

Hey Alan,

I can't believe you've been too busy to tune! It sounds like quite the adjustment and I'm surprised you aren't itching to get it done. Although, maybe you are but the wife's projects take precidence!

Thanks for helping peddle the e90. I've got some calls, but people tend to lose interest when I tell them it's a stick. One guy was interested but said his girl couldn't drive stick, and another woman called and she couldn't drive stick. Frustrating. If I had known when I bought that I'd be selling it a year and a half later (well, I wouldn't have bought it in that case), I would have gotten auto tranny for resale.

Looks like I'll end up bringing it down here, which isn't the end of the world.

I've learnt the old adage the hard way, "If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody gonna be happy." Doesn't mean I don't want to be tuning, and running the car, but:

a) my wife has a completely different concept of where my energy and money should be going.

b) my tuner is adamant that he doesn't want to be working on something that's gone boom twice in 12 months.

c) my co-driver, primary mechanical help, etc., has been busy/preoccupied with the road racing season that's just finished. He took second in his class which is very good seeing as he has only run one other season about 5 years ago. He also started crewing for the Grand Am Koni Challenge Series, TRG race team this year (Andy Lally, etc.) on their 4 car Porsche 997 GT3 beauties.

d) I've had to deal with transplant rejection (cornea) problems over the past few months which has greatly reduced my ability to work on the car or extend my indebtedness.

That's such a shame. Who would have thought that it would reduce the market so much on such a "Driver's Car". Oh well. Live and learn. It is a sad commentary on today's drivers though.

It's still a great car either place. I know it would be nice to have been able to have benefited a bit more from the sale in Canada and purchased something else at a lower or similar price, but, that's life. You'll still end up with a great car and just think, if you ever take in a driving school down there, you'll have something more enjoyable and better balanced on the track than a G35.

Good luck.

Regards, Alan

It's alright. We miss the easy access to health care. Also, people working in customer service in North Bay are not only slow like in the maritime but they all want to put their hands deep in your pockets.

Other than that it is all good.

How is your move to the states going?

How is your move to the states going?
Good, we've been here since mid-september. E90 just got here yesterday though, was trying to sell it back home but no takers. My parents ended up driving it down since they were coming for a visit anyway. Glad to have it back though, and it's hard living with one vehicle when you're used to two!

We like it here though, so far, and the weather's been great. If you don't mind living through a drought, it's been sunny and warm all but 2 days in the 7 weeks we've been here. Not bad.

Note the irony of two e90post members keeping this thread alive, neither of which are in Atlantic Canada.
