a muffler delete will run you about $150-$200 and sounds as good (if not better) than most exhausts and will likely have a better hp gain
i've done it on my 328 and 335 and it sounds so good i probably wouldn't spend the money on an exhaust unless i was getting an m car

It's all subjective. I was very happy with my muffler delete, until I did the headers.

So HP gains might not be that much. I dyno'd the other day and I put out 187WHP and 175WTQ max before the temps came up. I've got a full Eisenmann exhaust and it was with the stock box. I'm going to try an AFE drop in next and I got my headers installed recently so when I go back I expect to be over 200whp and wtq.

headers with a muffler delete must sound like certified garbage. are you still running with no muffler? |

100 miles of no full throttle and then another 150 miles of mixed driving with some full throttle pulls will let the ecu adjust and give you the full sound. is the loss in torque noticeable? |

It's slight, but I got used to the torque loss, my car is set up for canyons so I keep it high in the rev range anyway. I have secondaries deleted already, and I'm not doing mods for sound but for weight loss and performance. But the straight pipe was too loud for the street, so I'm trying to find another low weight alternative muffler to tone things down a bit.

when I had my 328 I cut those suckers out and replaced them with new mid pipes. This setup was pretty loud considering I had the PE exhaust too.
When I put the headers on I threw the secondary cats back in.

+1 this isn't how engines work. if "back pressure" was good, and we apply that same logic to headers, then catless headers must be horrible. Think of the (lack of) back pressure XD why would you want exhaust gasses backing up at the exhaust ports anyways? The whole point of an improved exhaust system is scavenging - the entire premise is to speed up gasses exiting the exhaust ports so that they get away from the motor quicker.

PE doesn't come with a resonator right?

No. The throttle response felt better but that may have been the buttdyno. I didn't bother getting a dyno before I got the exhaust since I bought it to spite my wife and wasn't really thinking about it.
