Oil Change DIY
Hey so I just decided to start working on my car because the dealer charges way too much and I want to order the oil change kit from fcp euro but would it be a hard diy? I just bought the water pump and thermo and replaced those and everything's fine so would this be harder orrrr??
Sorry for the newb question lol |

Are you saying you changed the water pump and thermostat on a 335i ? And your asking how hard a oil change is? Changing the waterpump and thermo is way more difficult then a oil change. Oil change is super easy on these cars! You will have no issues at all, just lub the O-rings and make sure the oil filter is firmly placed on the housing cage. Really a mega easy job, especially considering what you have already done!

Lots of DIY video's on these including one from FCP on the ytube.
Instead of ordering a kit I would just order the Filter and two 5 gallon jugs of the oil you want from them that way you have some spare oil for topping up and some left over for the next change if your car does not burn oil. Put in 6.5 quarts and then top off a little at a time to get to full. One thing a lot of people are not aware of when they first do this is. The electronic dip stick only measures the top quart of oil . The electronic dip stick does not update till the motor oil gets up to temp and you have driven a certain number of miles/time. I suggest driving the car several times for more than 10 minutes before you believe the reading and add more. You may need to repeat this process several times based on how low the reading is. The electronic dipstick is the source of much consternation and hair pulling. The important thing is not to believe the electronic dipstick till have driven the car several times and it has settled down to the post adding oil level. Use a torque wrench for everything on these. Most difficult thing is locating the trap door for the oil plug underneath the first time. You will need the car off the ground a little unless you have longer arms than me and can work in tight space at arms length without seeing what your working on. So you just send it to their general customer support email and ask for a refund and that's it? I'll have to give it a try as I just sent some stuff back to them. |

I didn't know you can have PayPal actually print a return label for you. I think I'll try that next.
