Easiest mod in the world until the nuts fall down underneath where the cd changer mounts and you have to pull back all the carpet on the driver side to undo the metal bracket that mounts the amplifier to get em out. But other than that I love em

just ordered my black e90 yesterday, was thinking of how it would look to just change the back-up lights to the smoked. Is that even possible? or do you have to buy both the back-up and turn signal?
My thought was that on the black car, the smoked back-up lights wouldnt stick out so much. hmm... any thoughts?

You have to buy the set, but you can install only the inside or outside portions separtely.

why can I not get the plugs from the trunk lid off? Any tips?

try prying with a wide blade flat screwdriver. THey're tough buggers. pry around evenly so you don't snap the head off or crack the plastic.

Thanks, but 3 hours and 7 tool/automotive stores later, I was finally able to find the proper puller tool for this which looks like it will work. I tried one of them in the parking lot and it came right out, so the rest should be no problem. Thanks.

I found using two flathead screwdrivers made pulling the trunk plugs out a cinch. Easy mod, just be careful not to drop the nuts when loosening them!

Where can I find white out lenses for an E90. (For the front side reflectors surrounding the headlights?) Does BMW make them yet? Or do i have to get an aftermarket?

That plug remover is hard to find man . even the official BMW dealers here in my area in The Netherlands don't have got the tool that Longtran showed on this pic's. the BMW-mechanics would only use the screwdrivers to remove those plugs . the installation would take +/- 90 minutes they say and i have to pay 90 euro/85 dollar for their work .well i think i will give it a try by myself this weekend . i hope i will succeed ...

Monaco, where did you find the puller?

You don't need a plug puller. All you need is two flathead screwdrivers, positioned so that you are exerting a balanced amount of force on both sides of the plug, which will pull it straight out instead of bending it. There simply is no need to go out and buy a special tool for this. It's a piece of cake.

I agree - this is the easiest mod ever. And I came to the same conclusion - two screwdrivers work perfectly.

Anyone wanting help with this in TO let me know - happy to "supervise" as you do it - or I'll do it for you. I vaguely remember long ago when I was terrified to work on my cars - and I was lucky enough to have a neigbour who taught me the basics- so I'm happy to help any newbies for whom this sounds daunting.

Thanks for the instructions! I substituted Sam Adams Light for the Squirt though but it still turned out ok.

Took me twice as much time and an additional tool (5/16 wrench) but with out these instructions I would have been lost in the trunk.

Not sure why I waited this long to do this but I am very happy I did this mod! The rump looks awesome now!
