Smile New Clutch at 27k miles???

I recently bought a 2008 E92 335i (my second manual 335i) with 27k miles. I bought it knowing the clutch was slipping a bit, the car doesn't slip unless I'm at low rpm/high load or WOT. My last 335i clutch lasted over 110k miles and I'm not new to manual cars. Any opinions on what else it could be besides an abusive previous owner? Car is FBO

It's possible a leaking rear main seal helped speed that up, but most likely just poor driving habits.

+1 to what Chris said above.

My rear main was leaking and causing my stock clutch to slip. I decided to upgrade anyway to a 335is and replace the seal when the trans was off

Guess you will find out when you replace the clutch. The stock clutch isn't good for FBO very long, just too much torque.

Car probably has a weak pressure plate ( there are min-max clamp load differences from factory...sometimes they can vary quite a bit) and there's a possibility of the rear main not being great as others have mentioned.

Yeah. The 335is has a higher nominal clamp load. I'd inspect your flywheel carefully to make sure the surface isn't toasted from slipping as well. That is assuming it's just the clamp load and not any leaks causing this issue.

if my flywheel is toasted will it be clearly visible? also can you resurface a dual mass flywheel ?

Typically you cannot machine a DMF. Feel the surface for ridges, look for a large amount of discoloration/heat that could have caused the surface not to be true anymore.

You'd be amazed how many people don't know how to drive properly. Also if it was previously modified then maybe returned to stock it could explain the short life too.
