Sometimes I really miss my 04 e46 perf. package mostly because of the handling.What mods would you guys recommend to make my handling as crisp and sharp as my old car.Do you think a good set of springs and shocks or maybe the e90 will never handle as good as perf. package e46

Hmm... do you have the sport suspension in your E90? Compared to my E46 with sport suspension, my E92 feels way better out of the box IMO. As far as improving handling, coilovers and sway bars would have the greatest improvement IMO.

I went thru 2 E46s and thought the E90 out performed them both. All cars had ZSP.

But I agree, the E90 should, and could handle better. Ive installed springs, shocks, sways, wheels and tires, the handling is great, and ride confort is as good if not better than stock ZSP.

Get the M sport suspension package. Or just the rear sway and aftermarket coilovers. And lighter wheels w/ nonrfts -- I am super happy with the new Pirelli P-0s.

Keep in mind that his E46 had the Performance Package, not just the sport.

If you want that tight and nimble feel of the E46 ZPP, I would emulate the upgrades they made on that version compared to the standard sport package. I.e stiffer springs, stronger shocks, wheel/tire combo, sway bars, etc.

Yeah, the zpp made the 330i's handling much better than the zsp.Sometimes I dont feel like my 335i is very stable at high speeds.Even with my csl's and non runflats.When I have the money I might do an aftermarket zpp, I miss the razor sharpness. Thanks for your opinions.

What tires do you have? Are they tramlining? I must say, if there was one stand out characteristic that I felt driving the 335 in Europe, it was remarkable high speed stability. Safe as houses at >200 kph. Almost too solid and insulated from road in comparison with my E46.

ZHP rocks. Can't wait for it to be released for the E9x. I guess I'll just feel bad about not having it, but it will be great for new buyers.

Right now I have oem 230's with the 19" runflats.It feels very disconnected when the roads become even remotely bumpy.It was better with the generals I had a little while ago but I think the ride was softer with regular tires.I think I just need a stiffer suspension.My e46 zPP handled incredibly.I think im putting on ps2's when I get my morr vs7's.That will help.thats what I had on my e46.Im scared when the zPP comes out for e90.It might be too nice.Im always vulnerable.

ZHP ride would be similar to an H&R Sport Spring or Eibach Pro Kit spring and Koni FSD. You still get the smooth BMW ride quality but under cornering, the car will stiffen up much like the ZHP cars.

Just wondering, what other additional parts you would need when replacing aftermarket shocks and springs? Will the FSD+Eibach set sufficient for the whole install?

Other than a few parts that are already on your car, you're good to go.

I'd like to know your opinion on just getting the front H&R sway bar installed...my mechanic tells me the labor to install the rear sway bar on the e90 frame is 4-5 hours....that's not cost effective for my budget...front sway bar only takes an hour...I can afford it...just not sure if it's worth it w/o the rear sway bar.

Well the e90 and e92 as well as most other road cars are tuned for understeer for safety. So if anything you should get a rear sway bar, not a front bar. This will help reduce the amount of oversteer.

The front bar is pointless, it's almost the same as stock, and adding it alone would only increase the understeer. The rear one is what you want, it will bring the balance back to neutral under/oversteer. It's expensive to install because you have to lower the rear subframe.

sway bars, at least the rear plus some coilovers. Rear stock is 13mm, H&R is 20mm...front is 26.5mm, H&R is 27mm

then get some KW Coilovers, great handling performance

I owned a 2005 e46 330i ZHP.
It's not ZPP, it's ZHP for the High Performance.

I have the Eibach/FSD set up on my car now.
It absolutely out handles the ZHP.

I think the stock e90 ZSP is pretty close to what the ZHP was, as the chasis is more rigid out of the box.

The RFTS kill the e90's handling.

When I add my LSD and f/r H+R sways, I'm sure it'll out handle alot of things on the road.

Don't forget to play with tire pressures boys and girls.
They play alot in the handling of the car.
Understeer/Neutral/Oversteering, etc.......

What year did the ZHP become available? Was it '03 or '04? I can't remember.
