Question Engine Strut Brace Question

I was wondering if anyone has put BMW's Engine Strut Brace under their hood. If so have you noticed any difference? Is it worth getting? Let me know

it'll improve chassis stiffness by 38%.

actually, no real difference. it's more like engine bay bling.

i just installed it in my e92 328, first impressions is that it does soak up the bumps on the roads better than without, but in terms of handling improvement, i didn't feel much (if any)

I have it. I pulled it off a couple of weeks ago to try and fit some spacers in order to get rid of the tapping noise 335 owners get with this bar. I had it out for a few days and you know what? I actually could tell a difference. It was very slight and it had more to do with the way it tightens up the front end when quickly shifting the direction of the car then with controlling body roll. + It looks cool in the bay

Keep in mind the 335 is throwing around extra pounds up front

hmm, i guess it really does firm up the chassis during sudden jerky maneuvers...i almost got in an accident on sat when some idiot pulled outta a parking lot without stopping, maybe 20ft ahead of me...me going around 55kph (speed limit 50km). i remember swerving around him and missing him by about 6 inches or so. the car felt solid. only thing jerky about the whole incident was my head; ~slow motion to the right, then to the left~

you Canadians drink too much beer glad you didnt get into an accident!

in the end, i think it does make a difference in handling and increases the rigity of the chasis, but for everyday driving, little is going to be appreiciated, unless you drive your car like you stole it 100% of the time

Eric, I think it's all in your head though, the purpose of the strut is not to soak up the bumps, that'd be more of a job of the suspension, not the strut bar

for what it's worth, I have it and I can't really tell any difference

I don't think a Strut tower brace is really going to accomplish much on a street driven E9X. Chassis is plenty stiff as it is.

Anyway, the effect won't be as dramatic as it would be on an older Vette, or Toyota or something.

But I am looking forward to the Carbon fiber Strut brace for the E92... Just for Dressing up. Will go nicely with a Carbon Fiber engine cover.

my opinion is that if you feel like it's doing something, then it is.
doesn't matter what anyone else says, or whether the change can be quantified.
