I'm probably gonna put mine back on since I've been using my bike rack a lot, which renders my rear plate useless since the bike(s) block it out completely.

Got a no front plate ticket about a 15 years ago in my Camaro as well. Of course I got one for speeding too (107 in a 55 ). Got both of them dismissed, the speeding being a little more difficult to do so than the plate. lol I don't think front plates look that bad, maybe I'm just used to them but Texas has come a long way in improving the looks of their basic plate and offering alternatives. Wouldn't mind replacing it with a Texas Tech decorative plate though.
The problem with the new development in front plates is the law is still on the books and will most likely the mistake preventing the enforcement of the law will be corrected next session. In the meantime cops can, and will give you a ticket for it just because they know its a pain in your ass to get it dismissed, even if its a sure thing. If you follow all traffic laws, the chances of getting pulled over for it are low as always but if you don't your just drawing more attention to yourself by giving them another reason to pay attention to you. You also have to keep in mind that cops aren't lawyers and for many of them (by no means not all) their knowledge of the law outside of what they need to do their daily duties is limited. I don't say that to disrespect them by any means, they serve and protect, they don't prosecute and defend.
For those that don't want a front license plate but instead put the front plate on their dash. Do you REALLY think that's an improvement?

I've been nailed a couple of times in the past. Common thread? Williamson County.

Otherwise, pretty much left alone.

Welcome sir! Responses from this thread made me put mine back on. It doesn't kill the E90 front as much as it does the E92.

Yeah. I've been rolling naked in the front for years, but I'll be putting my loincloth back on for this car. Just not worth the hassle.

Nope, had my car since 2006 with no front plate and have yet to be pulled over, warned, or ticketed for it.

I had a female state trooper go out of her way to pull me over in heavy traffic on 190 near Fort Hood a few weeks ago just to give me a warning for not having a front plate.

Heading to post for work and doing the speed limit plus five. I see the trooper ahead on the shoulder and move to the inside lane and slow down, but still moving with traffic and not above the limit. She hastily moves into traffic, puts her lights on and gets into the fast lane. I notice that the trooper was going after someone, suspected it was the truck in front of me since he's pulling away and going a little faster than everyone else. I moved over to the slow lane--to clear the path for the trooper--and the next thing I notice is the trooper cut off the vehicle to my rear and recognize she's after me. Somehow in a short glimpse as I passed while she was on the shoulder, she noticed I didn't have a front plate. Well, she made sure that I knew it was the law and gave me a warning. Then I started to notice how many vehicles around this area don't mount front plates.

I decided that I won't mount the front plate and will do what I was advised...blame it on the dealer.

You were profiled! lol She wasn't looking for speeders she was looking for a drug bust or something along those lines. Lack of a front plate just gave her probable cause to pull you over and have a closer look.

^^^ yep.

My car gets "profiled" all the time. It's a combination of my exhaust, mods and tint, but I see cops running my plates *constantly* (conspicuously following me out of nowhere for several blocks then speeding off in a huff when they find out I have a squeaky clean record). Every now and then I'll get pulled over for something absolutely ridiculous -- like just the other day: turning into the right lane when making a left turn onto an empty street. I never get ticketed though. They act like they're mad/shocked that I don't have 85 warrants or something.

Haha, true

Speaking of which I am actually getting some different plates when my registration is up at the end of Nov. These new ones will probably attract a little more attention (UND3AD).

I heard about the 7 for 7! I thought about getting "VAMPIRE" lol. (it's actually available, shockingly). Is the gift card only for the 7-character plate or for any plate? Because I'll be ordering my new one in the next week or 2.

Oh, and yes, it IS pretty much a brand new car. My warranty is up at the end of this month and I will be taking it to BMW to try and get some free spark plugs (and maybe some brake pads) out of them while I can.

It's for any plate... and they allow you to stack gift cards too if you order via phone (I did it in the past for mine).

I'd get them to do everything down to the wiper blades. Here's a story - last October, (15 days before my A4's warranty expired), took the car to the dealership for its last covered maintenance service. Got a phonecall later that day to find out that a tech crashed it into an 18-wheeler. Five months and many battles later with the dealer for their not wanting to accept responsibility, I decided to hop across the street and test drove a 335. The rest is history.

I would have really liked the 7 letter plates, but it's just WAY too expensive for what it is. So I ended up going with the cheapest version I can find, which is the few legacy plate options left outside of myplates. Behold!

So obviously no front plate tickets

There is a limited set of vanity plates you can still order the old way instead from myplates. It's cheaper and you don't need to buy multiple years at a time. But you also have limited choices:

...and I thought MyPlates was the only option. Whats the yearly fee for these? I'm seeing separate $30 and $40 fees.

Yeah DPS is definitely really pushing myplates. Makes sense, since they charge a lot more money. It's $30 if you want a vanity plate (with randomly assigned numbers), and additional $40 to customize it. So $70 per year on top of your regular registration.
