Homelink compatibility

Does e9x use can be programmed to work with security+ 2.0 garage door opener or does it use the older security protocol?

Edit: wrong subforum.

No idea what protocol it is, but it works with my ~2011 garage door opener.

However, it is a lot slower than the remote that came with my door, and it doesn't work from as far away (pretty much have to be in my driveway, which sucks). Also, it only works if the ignition is on, which is annoying.

I use it anyway though, because then I can leave the remote in my E30 which obviously doesn't have a mirror with a compass and a garage door opener built in.. lol

My garage motor is 2.0. I can’t get car’s remote to connect at all. Per manufacturer website, it says that the car is supported, but the site says that if the car can’t connect, I should get home link compatibility bridge. People report different results, but no one specified which protocol they have.

I really wonder how many people found that option useful? In both houses that I lived in since buying the car neither of them work with Homelink. :

Get the compatibility bridge. It's easy to setup and it works well for my other 2005 car.
I will try and conbect my 2009 328i to it in the next few days.
