What does Telephone Handset button on Steering Wheel do??

Title pretty much says it all . . .
On the steering wheel is a button with a symbol that looks like an old-fashioned telephone handset.
Try as I might, I can't find any use for it in either the manuals or in practice.
Bluetooth telephone voice commands are entered using the separate voice command button (either the button on the steering wheel, or the button near the iDrive controller).
So, does the Handset button do ANYTHING??

I does the same thing that a telephone handset does. Answers and ends calls. Also initiates calls if you have your phonebook up in the display.
