well, drilled rotors were made a lot of years back when pads were made of a compound which gassed under heavy use. They were made for performance cars for this reason. Since then the pad compound changed and they were no longer necessary, but still they were associated with competition cars so ppl kept buying them. Recently they are used for comp cars on heavy breaking circuits where they need bigger diameter for rotors so they put the big heavy rotors on a diet drilling holes to them. In that case the weakness is not an issue as they get replaced after every race. Under normal conditions even nascar cars use solid rotors (sometimes slotted) guess why?

If Pagid pads tend to out-gas, I would reconsider buying them.

Maybe because NASCAR runs ovals, which in general don't require hard braking. I would assume that they use slotted rotors on the courses that are more demanding on the brakes. Note the slotted rotors on this page with reference to road courses: http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/news/s...s=2&id=2910383 One other thing to at least consider is the reduction in unsprung weight.

I have no experience with Pagid, so I can't comment on that specifically.

Personally, I've read and been told that drilling introduces stress/weakness into the rotor and this can cause cracks during hard use. That's reason enough for me to only use a solid OE type rotor.

I've resolved brake cooling issues in the past with ducting, fluid change, pad material change, in that oder. Also, running an aggressive pad, I've eaten rotors about once per season, so I've found it most cost effective to go with autozone solid OE replacement rotors. This is a moot point on a BMW since you can just stop by your dealer and get new stuff free

In terms of cooling, I think the effect of the drill/slots is negligible, since most of the cooling comes from air brought in by ducting etc

As for slots, I've heard they are great for rallying where you need to get mud and water off the rotor face. In a road racing application, I have no tech or experience. I've heard anecdotes they eat pad material much faster than solid rotors

Wow... that was one heck of a first post. Not only did you search, but you searched and found something I'd never seen before. The price is good. The design is good. I've never heard of the brand, and it does worry me that they make rotors for every car I could imagine (an oldsmobile alero?!). I'll try to do some research on them tomorrow.

Awesome first post. Welcome to e90post

The opinions of an STI board (I do see their point):
http://www.iwsti.com/forums/braking/...ce-rotors.html

Nothing but good news from the first couple pages a GTO board:
http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=246698

The other forums were from non-sporty cars, so I haven't really given them a look. My initial thoughts are that they should be a nice cosmetic upgrade. If you're not going to track, you should be completely fine.

Wow I started this thread months ago and I'm surprised to see it still around. I think it's only a matter of time before BMW releases a performance brake kit for the E92. I'm not sure why they neglect the E92 for their performance parts? You'd think it would be their best seller?

On another note, would the M3 rotors fit a 335?

THe performance bbk is in fact on the menu... but I can't think of one reason i'd pick it over the offerings from alcon, stoptech, ap racing, or brembo if its not going to be cheaper.

think I will hold off on upgrading my brakes, until they require replacement. The stock 335 brake system is pretty impressive as is. Seems like a big investment that's not really necessary.

Just curious what does brembo have to offer?

ok, so i googled these rotors and it looks like some people in the rx7 and nsx forums have been doing group buys for awhile, pricing around $160 for (4) rotors!!! Maybe we should do that too? But then again we don't know the quality of it yet...

Once again, 330 fits 335 as long as we're talking E9xs.

I sent them an email asking about the 335 and this is the response I got:

Thank you for your interest in our products. The E90/E92 335 are the same size and will not fit a 330i. The 335 brake rotors are 499.99 for any of our six designs. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
