Talking UUC Motorwerks XI Sway Barbarians!

Hey Everyone,
I just got off the phone with Rob over at UUC Motorwerks. Why we didn't call these guys earlier is beyond me.

First of all, the UUC Sway Barbarian rear sway bar fits the 335xi as is. There are no issues at all with the rear sway. Rob informed me that UUC would gladly sell the bars individually for 50% off retail price of the set. I just purchased one and will post a review ASAP.

Second of all, UUC is very, very friendly. They are aware of the problem with the front sway being one of driveshaft clearance. I offered up the possibility of a volume pre-order and Rob assured me that, pending confirmation with his Suspension Research guy, a following of 20 or more members should be sufficient. So thus begins my request.

Who'd be interested in a set of UUC Sway Barbarians for the 335xi?! Given the longstanding quality of UUC parts we have all come to know and love, I see no reason not to jump on this. Let me know. I for one will be in for the fronts, so I'll start the list.

Update (May 6th): I will be contacting UUC on Wednesday, May 7th to notify them of our successful harvesting of 20 members and get further information regarding what comes next. Thank you everyone!

Update (May 27th): These guys are great! They're doing some extensive research first: 'The original sway is a gradient diameter. We're trying to get a base stiffness. We're working on it, we don't have an answer on just it. We need to do a bunch of analysis on it because it's not a constant diameter. We're trying to get the cost below the i set because this one won't be adjustable so we won't have to include the cost of adjustable front end links.' SO! They're working on it, and it'll be cheaper than the i set....I think that's damn good news

Update (June 13th): They are finishing their research of the stock sway. Apparently, they had to produce a testing rig to get base stiffness instead of just doing some calculations due to the gradient diameter of the stock bar. Rob will have a better estimate as to the exact availability date next week. However, he assured me that these sways will be available in between one and two months. (Hooray, they'll be ready by the end of the summer and Oktoberfest!) Also, for all you guys with fitment questions: These bars will fit ANY E9X XI MODEL. That means 325xi, 328xi, 330xi, 335xi, E90, E91, E92, E93. So, if you are driving the most recent generation BMW 3-Series and your car turns four wheels at a time, you are a candidate for a new UUC front sway! I'll keep on them, stay with us guys!

Update (July 28th): I will be receiving a sample unit tomorrow and will immediately test fit it on the car. If all goes well, they should immediately begin production. Not much longer!

Update (August 5th):

@ all: Bars are in production now, to be available in just a couple of weeks. Pricing on the Xi-exclusive bars should be on our website in a day or so, I'll post the link ASAP.
Update (September 3rd):
Bars are ready and are available here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...79#post3265979

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the front bar will have to be fixed as, from what Rob was saying, it has to do some weird wrapping around. Still, you'd have a fully adjustable rear bar and a matched front....I think it'll be great

Count me in. How much for the set? (Front & rear)

This is the best news I've heard all week.

We currently don't have pricing information as they still have to figure research costs. However, with the rear at a fixed price, and their most expensive SET going for less than one of ACs bars....do you really care?

LOL no I really don't care at all, but someone had to ask. I thought someone had tried the UUC rear sway and it didn't fit the XI? Let me see if I can find the thread.

I'm not finding that thread. I remember something similar but I think it was an H&R sway if I'm not mistaken...

Yea, maybe you are correct. Let us know how your install goes for your rear bar.

I didn't specifically ask about 325,328, and 330xi fitment, but seeing as the sway barbarian set they currently sell fits all (i) e90s, I don't see why not... Shall I count you in?

Put me on that list!

But I don't get it....so currently ONLY the REAR SWAYBAR works and they need to research and manufacture the front one?

Am I correct?

Will they fit the 335xi coupes?

What is the purpose of having a stiffer front bar only? I always thought it was better to buy a matching pair... Enlighten me pls!

I guess that the rear sway bar they already make for the i fits the xi with no issues. However, in the front, there are driveshaft clearance issues. So, they would just be researching a new front (I don't think I mentioned that he said it would have to be fixed in front) to match the rear. I'm not sure about the xi coupe but upon further communication I'll be sure to ask along with asking about the rest of the e90 xi.

I personally don't see why you would put only a front sway on this car as that would increase the already prevalent problem of understeer. However, I already have a rear on the way from them so I would just need to add a front, and I'm sure some people here would love to reap the benefits of a rear for now until the front is added.

jpsimon, unfortunately you read that wrong. He will give us 50% off of the retail price of the set for a bar individually. So right now, you would pay half the price of the set for just the rear sway bar.
