Alloy wheel cleaners for stubborn particles
Hi All,
I’m struggling to get my M Sport alloys spotless ! , I have treated them with the wheel cleaner (iron remover) (forgot the brand sorry) but it turns purple when it hits the wheel. Anyway brought them up ok ?, but stil I have quite a lot of embedded brake dust / tar particles ?, is there a cleaner that won’t ruin my wheels but will bring them up like new ?, cheers |

Not used a clay bar mate, just remembered, it was dodo juice ferrous dweller I used, good stuff but still I have ground in particles , this cost me about £17 as well so though it would easy shift it ?, if anyone knows of anything better please post as really want to make them spotless without getting them re coated . Thanks

sometimes the hot brake dust will penetrate the surface of the paint on the wheels,,no amount of cleaning will get rid,,i clean mine at least every 2 weeks,i use stone white and can dilute to strength you want,,its probably the cheapest on the market,,my wheels are spotless...5l for a tenner delivered,,i use a 3/1 mix if not that bad or a 2/1 mix if quite bad,,never had to use it neat,,it is also suitable for any iron removal from any paint..e bay i got it from,,when you spray it on you can see it get to work quickly,,then afetr a minute or so i use a triangular(corner) paintbrush to agitate all over..wrapped the metal bit with insulation tape ..

I would be very cautious about using a solvent like acetone. Unless it is a very quick wipe as suggested here you could end up partially disolving the lacquer which will look worse than the dirt you are trying to remove.
