2011 E91 xdrive 328 Iphone integration
Hi Gang,
I apologize if this has been asked, answered, etc. before, but I can't seem to find it. If someone has a link to avoid creating a new topic, please post it or let me know. I have a New to me 2011 E91 xdrive 328 with idrive (that I believe is CIC) and I'm trying to integrate my Iphone 11 Pro. Is there a way to get phone calls through the car's native bluetooth and music through a bluetooth (or other) adapter to the aux / bluetooth in the console? So far, it seems like I can get one or the other, but not both . If this is not possible, is there a workaround? For what it's worth, I tried an inexpensive bluetooth dongle with a usb and a 3.5mm plug on it and the audio is ok, but people on the other end of phone calls can't hear me (I'm assuming that this is because the phone thinks I'm on a headset and it is looking for a microphone). |

suggest you go to the idrive sub forum .
There are upgrades to make this stuff native to the idrive but they are rather expensive. Combox and a certain firmware for the idrive allows streaming over bluetooth. NBT Evo retrofit gives the following Video streaming from USB stick/USB hard drive (if USB/AUX in the armrest is available) Bluetooth audio streaming functionality Video in Motion activation 6NR (BMW Apps) Android screen mirroring and Apple CarPlay (for NBT EVO only) Sports display (real-time power and torque meters) Free lifetime firmware updates (for eNBT Retrofit Adapter) Climate controls and HUD support (depending on model of BMW) It's pretty expensive though. See Bimmertech and http://www.bimmerretrofit.com/store/ https://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=122 https://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=368 Look for combox retrofits. With the streaming option. Also look up BMW idrives on wiki. Last edited by ctuna; 01-24-2022 at 03:32 PM.. |

If you have an idrive and you want to be able to control your
phone to switch songs and answer phone calls with the buttongs on the steering wheels and display stuff on your screen . To stay OEM you have to do a combox , firmware upgrade or a total upgrade like described in the last entry to NBT evo Can's believe that you don't have at least bluetooth phone linkage. Almost all cars have that as an option. Do you even know what options you have? Have you RTFM? There is a seperate manual for the phone and Radio . One each. You can try running your Vin through Mdecoder.com to find out what you have. There are quite a few cheap devices that run through the aux usually they don't give you steering wheel controls and since they run through the aux the fidelity is limited. Even if it's hooked up through a wire it won't work that well. Do a search here for bluetooth here . Ask on the idrive sub forum https://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=122 Last edited by ctuna; 01-24-2022 at 10:35 PM.. |

I do have bluetooth. I'm sorry if that was not clear. The issue I'm having is that it seems like I can have phone over bluetooth or music over bluetooth, but it seems impossible to do both. As such, I'd be fine with wiring it, but I'd just like everything to just work. I do not have the radio instruction manual, I will be looking for it. |

Do you have idrive or Pro Radio.
I drive is a a screen in the dash and a controller (knob )in the center console. The sound on the stock phone connection should be fine if it has no problems. |

Simply check the corresponding boxes in the Telephone setup menu. Note that the car prioritizes the best quality audio - this means if you plug your iPhone into the center console USB port, Bluetooth Audio will be disabled, and you’ll get a message on the iDrive stating so. |

i know this post is a week old or so but wanted to add that the way I got bluetooth audio streaming AND bluetooth phone on my 2090 lci e91 with combox and 6fl:
1. first delete any instances in the cic of your phone as to start fresh. 2. add your phone to the car and select ONLY bluetooth audio 3. once that is done, confirm bluetooth audio is streaming properly 4. go back into the telephone settings in the car and you will see the box for bluetooth audio already checked, but not the phone checkbox. 5. check the phone box so both it and the blueooth audio is checked 6. confirm bluetooth phone in addition to bluetooth audio is working. 7. profit ymmv but this procedure worked for me and has been working for years. onward!
