I was driving one night when all of a sudden my radio, radio lights, and I drive screen shut off, I checked the fuse for the I drive, reset battery, hard reset on I drive and nothing, I went to the junk yard and found a ccc module exactly like the one I have now. (Not the module with 8 buttons) I installed and it didn't fix it my issue, screen is still black and no music. Do I need to code anything to get i drive or music to turn on? The car I pulled the ccc module off was dead with no battery so I can't verify if it worked but it was worth a shot.

There is an idrive forum here.
A new I drive should at least power up but may need to be programmed
to your car. If you have a battery that is going out the IBS system may turn
off power to the Radio or Idrive to conserve the battery
The module below the screen is essentially the idrive.
(the one with the buttons)

Will the 8 button ccc modules work or do they used different wiring or connectors

this is a ccc swap procedure.

There are a bunch on ytube.

Maybe your are talking about the option button's for things like heater and hill assist those
should not affect the CCC.

He installs another ccc and his I drive turns on immediately, perhaps my used ccc I got is bad or I'm chasing a different issue, I've read it doesn't need to be coded to atleast turn on

I had a buddy come with the same car as mine in the same spec, his car had heated seats and didn't have logic 7 but same year as mine and when I put his module in my car it didn't work at all but works perfectly fine in his car

Try to measure for 12 volts at the CCC when you power up the car
would be the first basic thing to do.

I have a working cic screen and radio but the scroll wheel and buttons by the gear shift do nothing. Indy read fault code that said comms error to the idrive controller . I have read a few posts where people replace the whole controller module but it does not fix the problem .. well sometimes it does. Before investing in a new unit, what else could be causing this problem - wiring looks ok , but perhaps hard to tell - and I did measure power to the controller is ok. Fuses are all ok. Can something else on the can bus be causing such problems ? Thanks
