CIC Random Reboot / Restart
My CIC Pro Nav i-Drive keeps restarting after start up and on the odd journey it would randomly restart numerous times over.
My Logic 7 system, DAB, FM/AM, External Audio, Music Collection, CD/DVD, NAV and Bluetooth Talk all work perfectly fine so I'm not sure if its a module in the MOST. Kraiden mentioned about an orange defective fibre optic cable. Do I try the MOST Loop Bridge? Or would it be one of these units which I've stated above: -SAT SIRIUS unit always goes bad, we will offer repair of this unit soon -TCU TELEPHONE BLUETOOTH MODULE RECENTLY WE SEE TONS OF THEM FAILING! - Logic7 Amplifier - M-ASK CD unit (ASK) - Navigation GPS - AM/FM tuner - CD itself main screen (CID) - CD changer CDC https://www.germanaudiotech.com/page...-sound-failure What would you all recommend? Thanks in advance, Narv |

It is unlikely that an issue with the fiber optic loop is causing reboots.
A failing drive developing bad sectors or failing to start will hang I/O from the CIC and cause it to reboot or randomly shut off and restart. You can test for the latter by pulling the drive and turning the CIC on. If the reboots stop, albeit missing navigation and sat play, then the hard drive is to blame and must be replaced. |

Hi opjose,
I forgot to mention that I did try removing the HDD and the system continued to reboot shortly after turning on ( both with the key in and without the key in). I did think that may be the case until I removed the HDD. Could it be a firmware / software issue? I believe the system hasn't been updated since it left the factory back in late 2008 from looking at the maps. Thanks |

With the hard drive removed the system is only working from flash memory, which is unlikely to become corrupt.
You are down to an issue with the electronics, e.g, old or aging capacitors, overdriven transistors, shorts, supply issues, spurious signals, etc. |

Im having same issue cic resets it self or it wont boot on start up and comes back up later and after short time it resets again, i purchased new hard drive and cloned the old one and still same problem I think cic is bad and need to be replaced many used units on ebay just have to learn how to program and code. I heard getting nav to work on used unit is hardest part.

Yes I did try with no hard drive in place and it continued to reboot
I have been having issues with the DAB radio since I last posted so I'm starting to believe it's that module in the MOST. |

I only ran the CIC with the hard drive out for about 5 minutes to see if it would reboot. Should I try it for longer? Or do you think it is worth trying the software update as I've seen many others having success with that? Last edited by narvp; 12-06-2021 at 04:37 AM.. |
