Alternator IBS weirdness I'm confused

I got a weird one for me. I recently had a problem with alternator not supplying enough. I replaced it with a new Alternator and regulator. Which worked much better unless I was idling and then it would run itself out of power.

I assumed it was a bad battery and took it to the dealership for battery warranty. They are saying battery is fine.

They are saying it needs two hours of diagnosis and it's probably related to the IBS. I wondered if my alternator was bad or sized wrong but they say they cannot test just alternator as the IBS could be interfering with proper voltage off alternator (yes I'm confused)

How big a rabbit hole is this. Can the IBS just be replaced. What questions should I be asking..??
