Rear window stuck down
2006 E(): Rolled it down for the first time in a while and it was a bit stuck at the top. Went down fine but will not go back up. Tries to go up - starts then stops. Any pointers?
Thanks. |

Try pushing the up button, and it might raise like 5mm or so. From there carefully grab it with some pliers (emphasis on carefully) and pull it up as you or partner hit the up switch again. This worked for me once upon a time.

Went to use the pliers today and the window rolled up when I pressed the button. But something snapped when it got to the top. It is up now but I can move it up or down freely by hand. It will go down if I use the button but not up. So something is broken. Question is - what exactly?

I did my rear regulator a couple of weeks ago. It's a quick 45 minute job. Also, I disconnected the battery just incase when removing the window switch and disconnecting the motor.
Use a knife to saw away at the insulation (don't slice). The insulation goop comes away quite cleanly. I also used a flat head screw driver covered in duck tape to remove the clip from the window. Kind of a pain. Be careful disconnecting the window switch from the wiring, I used a very small screw driver to lightly pry at the switch tab. Reset limits using window switch. |
